im indian and i have silky dark hair.

its not like black...but its a very dark brown.

i want to lighten it, but without using damaging hair dyes.

sun-in and stuff like that will probably make my hair redder and thats what i dont want!

i want to make my hair browner, not redder. i dont know if you can understand what im trying to say...like when i go out into the sun my hair always looks a bit redder, thats just how the dakr brown lightens..is there anyways to make it a lighter brown!?!?

i was thinking about dying it, but it would be a real pain when my roots grow in...what should i do!?

I have very dark hair just like yours and I have also wanted to have lighter hair, but with no reds in it. I started going to this guy who is a hair color specialist in San Diego. He hilites my hair and I tell him to keep the reds out and he does a fantastic job!! And when it grows, it doesnt look bad because he does such a good job, that it looks natural. It doesn't even look bad if I don't go back for a year. Seriously, he does great. I think its because he does a very fine weave with the hilites. When I first go, I get a "full weave". After that, I just get partial weaves where he only does touch up on the front and sides mostly - it looks nice. But after 3 touch ups, I get another full weave.

in the summer go into the sun a lot and dont' try to stay in the sun to long I suggest swiming, so that your body is cool and so that your hair turns blonde.
