Recently, I thought about how my life is, and really want to change everything. I don't have any money or connections, just enough for a greyhound bus ticket and some food. I have clothes/sleeping bag and a duffel bag. I want to find a job right away and start in a apartment or some cheap living arrangement. I won't really care as long as I'm paying the bills and surviving. I've stayed at homeless shelters before, and this is something I'd like to avoid if possible. Basically, Im a young man who wants to change his life by moving to another state. Anyone who has experience with this, please send your comments.

A friend of mine used to do things like that. He would go to a local college campus and look for roommate wanted signs. Though you might have to scrounge up some rent money.

You could try finding a city with a YMCA or youth hostel and stay there for cheap while you get your living arrangement squared away.

Similar experience. When I was 16 I impulsively moved to the Upper penesula of Michigan. I loved it there but failed 3 times, and ultimately ended back home. If you want to live some place else you can 100% do it, but you need to do some things first. You need to have a stable life here. Apartment, Job (to save money) transportation. Once you've had those for a while. Give it a minimum of 6 months of maintaining all of those things. Then go online, or go visit the place you want to move to, put in Job applications, and apartment applications. COME BACK HOME and wait for replies. SET YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS AND NOT FAILURE :) Good luck to you.

How about making a plan before you just "run away"? Couldn't you get a job where you now live, save some money and then leave with a bit of dignity and a place (and job) to go to? Change is good, but unplanned, unfinanced jaunts are setting yourself up for trouble!

Have you tried dealing with the issue previous to pulling a geographical? I Know when I was 21, I felt the same way. But unfortunately (at the time), I did'nt have money for a ticket. I totally understand about the shelters, but sometimes we have to jump through hoops and climb mountains that we really want to avoid. That was six years ago, I stuck it out sleeping in parks, begging for money and food. I eventually ended up prostituting,, and was determined to clean my life up in the same spot it got dirty. It made me stronger, it can make you too.

find a job..eat cheap food (mcdonalds)...stay at a homeless shelter or if you have the money stay at a motel for the time being...try going to as many job interviews as possible...if you dont have any connections, then try going somewhere and find someone who you'll repeatedly see and make friends with them, and they just might assist you in your needs. try finding jobs at yahoo, google, or your local news paper...do you have any relatives that you're close to? such as a cousin, aunt, uncle who can help a slight bit?..
