a friend of mine recently was diagnosed with this. are there any things she can do to get her facial muscle working again faster?

There isn't much that can be done to heal Bell's palsy. Anti-viral drugs are sometimes used, but they don't usually help, and prednisone or other anti-inflammatory drugs are sometimes used to reduce pain - also doesn't always work. Mostly, people just have to wait until the problem clears up. It can clear up in a few weeks to a few months. Your friend could ask the doc to prescribe an anti-viral drug - it might help.

my mom had this and she was laid up in the bed as it got so bad. this was many yrs ago, and they didn't know things back then. tell her to speak to the dr. that diagnosed her.

My father-in-law had this. I recall that it went away quicker than what his doctor said.
