God = Spirit?

Question

looking back over previous answers to the nature of god, several responders said, you can't define or describe god, since god is "spirit."

i'm curious (sincerely) what this means. when you say "spirit" do you have anything at all in mind, or just a blank, or a vague sense of something like "nature"?

um--i meant, what do YOU think of, or visualize, when you talk about God as spirit? someone said, "wind" but that's pretty definitive--is that what most folks think of?

Creator, God of the Universe, define him, that's like saying define the wind and how it blows and where it goes, you can't see it,
sometimes you can see the effects of it,define an Immortal to a mortal?, that is funny.....

I'm sure you hear all the time (mostly in movies) when someone believes that their loved one, who died a while back, is around because someone feels them near. It's sort of like that.
God's spirit is living and dwells in the heart of believers. The way you can confirm that his spirit is in someone, their actions would reflect that of his. You may ask, "How can I tell what their actions are to be like?" That's where Jesus comes into play.
God's spirit is real and exists on levels beyond what you can see. Cartoons have gone from 2-deminisional to 3-d, so why can't people look at life outside of the norm? It's tough, but we Christians have this thing called Faith that we allow to lead our steps. We believe that all things that happen (even the ones we don't see) will work out for our best.

Can you picture a mass of light and energy that radiates from a central "figure" resembling the general outline of a human form without the confines of matter? This is what I think of when I say God is Spirit (speaking of the Father) - the Word does not give details on this except to give us hints, such as "sitting" on the Throne and it talks about His "hands" and "I will make the place of my feet glorious." The Son (Jesus) however, does have a human body that He still "wears" - a glorified body that can enter into that mass of God energy and walk out from that energy. The Holy Spirit is also "Spirit" and has a Spirit "body" similar to the Father's - and yet they can all enter into one another and separate from one another to do their specific "jobs." For instance, The Father and Son reside in heaven while the Holy Spirit was sent to this earth to carry on the work of convincing men's hearts of sin, truth and righteousness and "birthing" souls into the Kingdom of God when they chose to accept Christ as Savior. If you're really interested you might check out Jesse Duplantis's "A close encounter of the God kind" - he relates the time God translated him to heaven for 5 hours and he saw the Father on the Throne and Jesus and gives great descriptions.

The spirit is what God has sent as the 3rd person of the Trinity.
First there was God (heaven) sent His son Jesus Christ (earthly) and then when Christ ascended in to heaven God gave us the spirit to guide us. This is what lives in us after we have excepted Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour.
