It began about 5 weeks ago. I woke up to a sharp pain, what felt like to be below my heart, under my ribs. The pain was very sharp as I would try to inhale. It lasted throughout the day and then slowly became more of a dull throbbing feeling in one spot. Not really painful, but definitly there. Since, I have seen the DR. 3 times. First, she thought maybe it was Pluerisy, had me take 800mg of IB Profin 3 times/day. After a few weeks the throbbing seem to dissapear for a few days. I quit taking IB Profin. A few days later it came back. I personally didn't think I had the symptoms of Pluerisy. Went back for a cat scan. Came back good. My DR. seems stumped. She put me on meds for possible pinched nerve. So far, doesn't seem to be doing a whole lot for me. Pain now seems to be in my back a little and up in my back shoulder blade. My rib cage now seems to be just slightly sensitive to the touch as well. No other symptoms at all besides what I explained. Please help???

This could be because of muscle fatigue or dehydration. Try exercising all parts of your body. It also sometimes is due to disuse atrophy. Try out some home remedies. You can also look for information in the web that give you home remedies. I found this website very useful. http://aches.in/cramps.html

Muscles can have knots (trigger points) that make them tight which in turn put pressure on nerves and other things causing pain.
Molasses - a couple of swigs or Bananas 1 or 2 - both contain magnesium and potassium for muscles.
Try working with the principles taught in The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies.
I use a chiropractor and massage therapist with it

It is very difficult to answer without patient exam. It might be due to excess of constipation, heat, spleen or even acidity. It is again reflecting on the nerves of back. Whatever may it be, do the following -
1) get a strong round magnet. Put South pole on pain site below heart (and not on heart, it will stop).
2) if you can, go to an acupuncturist. Medicine science doesn't know such problems, hence doctors can't treat them.
3) put a pouch of hot sand or hot salt on the pain site.
4) put a hot bandage of mud on the pain site. Soil should be from no mans' land. It will solve your problem. But if you feel that heat is excess in your body put bandage of mud without heating it.

With your Dr's ok, see a massage therapist trained with trigger point therapy.

Many muscles can refer pain in the way you have explained and with your Dr. stumped, it seems it may be soft tissue.

The Diaphragm, Serratus Anterior, Intercostals, Latissimus Dorsi, Pecs Major and Minor, Scalenes, SCM, Sternalis (if you have one), Subclavius, and Obliques all refer pain into the general areas you described but without an actual consultation and observation it is impossible to say for sure.

To find a qualified massage therapist in your area check with the American Massage Therapy Associations therapist locator on their website:

Good luck
