if they are bare metal, start with a metal primer.

then top coat with a good quality oil based paint and a mohair roller.

if they are already painted, just scuff sand them and top coat like noted above.

Car paint. Just sand the old paint off and get some spray cans of automotive paint. Make sure you use even strokes so you don't have any runs in your paint

I would use automotive paint. You can get it by the can or have it mixed exactly the color you want in pints, quarts etc. Most automotive stores carry paint.
