nothin to worry...ibuprofen is one of the safest drug....
just keep a watch on ur son to be sure...
no problem otherwise....so chill...
might cause some diarrhoea but that'll be gone in a day....
the only prob is if he is asthmatic....then it might cause some bronchial complications... otherwise... relax

good luck !

Please check the following information first and do a simple calculation based on your son's weight. The usual amount of ibuprofen in one tablet is 200 mg.

Toxic effects are unlikely at doses below 100 mg/kg of body weight but can be severe above 400 mg/kg of body weight .

Body weight and Usual therapeutic dose (safe dose) of child/infant:
9-10 lbs >3 months 25mg
11-16 lbs 50mg
17-21 lbs 75mg
22-26 lbs 100mg
27-32 lbs 125mg
33-37 lbs 150mg
38-42 lbs 175mg
43-53 lbs 200mg

Although there is no information about your son's weight was provided, I highly believe you don't have to worry about the toxic effect. However, since the tablet is not designed for the child, I am afraid it will give him hard time to swallow it. It might stick in the esophagus which may cause local irritation or ulcer. If he chews the tablet, the bad taste will make him spits it out.

Excess ibuprofen will cause abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, headache, tinnitus.
