I don't think its cool to try to hook up with your friend's ex. You should at least be man enough to let the dude know you feeling the ex first! I would personally never be interested in my friend's man since I have different tastes in men from most of my friends. Even if it were similar, I would never do that.
I guess its up to the ex what he/she will do next though...out of respect even I was the ex I would never go for my ex's friend, thats shiesty. No matter how bad the relationship was, that is wrong and it isnt being a good friend.

He's obviously not a friend. I've seen this so many times, and then the guy who gets screwed over still stays friends with the guy that's dating his ex. I could never do that.
