No, you can get your protein from far more healthy choices. In fact, red meat has a tendency to stick in your colon and rot, and can be a cause of colon cancer. There have been studies done which claim the average person who eats red meat on a regular basis has undigested meat rotting in their colons, the amount varies but some say upwards of three pounds.
Not to mention the inhumane way the animals are killed.
Food for thought....

It is not necessary to eat meat. If you remove meat from your diet, you must make sure that you get the proper proteins (all essential amino acids), and other nutrients that are rare in plants. If you continue to eat dairy and eggs, these concerns are not as great.

Meat is not normal or necassary. You will know if you are getting enough protien by how hungry your are. I am a vegetarian adn I supplement my diet with nuts, Peanut butter and add soy protien powder to my smoothies. This is great because I won't be hungry again for a whole day.

yes humans are omnivores, that means a healthy diet includes both meat vegetables seeds and nuts.
if you do decide to not eat meat (become a vegetarian of vegan). you will need to balance your diet VERY carefully. to make sure you get enough vitamins (especiall Vitamin B-12) which is only found in meats, it would make sense to go on food suppliments.
it is not recommended for children to be vegetarians. children should eat meat atleast 2 days per week to ensure a healthy growth and development.
it is not immorral to eat meat, not more so than eating plants (they live aswell you see) In nature its nothing but common that one is consumed by something else.

No, you can get the necessary protein and other resources(such as iron) from other sources. I think you just have to be well informed to be able to meet your nutritional needs if you don't eat meat.
