Detroit is not a war zone, Iraq is. This is a rhetorical question that deals only with US Military casualties since they are deliberately in harm's way. Iraqi casulties...well if they do not want them, then stop shooting at each other. As far as the statements about being sent to Iraq, the military is still an all-volunteer force.....soldiers are by definition in a hazardous occupation so complaints about being sent into a war zone are complaints about a personal choice to join. BTW, I'm a 'Nam vet, and I volunteered, I was not drafted...

Finally -- we have one of the Neocon leaning actually admitting that WE CAN'T EVEN GET A GRIP ON OUR OWN DANG DOMESTIC THING AND HERE WE ARE HALF WAY AROUND THE WORLD TRYING TO STRAIGHTEN SOMEONE ELSE OUT !!----- And, it is just such stuff AS this that is the VERY REASON that we should be back on our own soil straightening out the U S A --- LONG BEFORE we attempt to carry THIS FORM OF LIFE TO OTHERS !
And, I find it amuzing that the suggested approach here TO THIS VERY DEFINATE AMERICAN PROBLEM IS TO WALK OFF FROM IT !! Very interesting views to say the very least---very interesting indeed !!!!!!!!!!
Another point that could be made here is that with only a portion of the Billions that have been squandered in IRAQ by Haliburton and others of the President's short list of Special Friends----the police and others that are in Detroit and other major cities across America could have multiplied millions in funding to do the work that they have been trying to do with no funding for years ---- some of the very causes for the problematic situations that exists in these places to begin with !!!

Do you have family members serving in Iraq or any close friends? My husband is over there right now and we have a 10 month old daughter...do you think he wants to be there? Are you there? Do you actully know what the troops are doing over there? Or how they feel? In Detroit they have the CHOICE to be there!! They soldiers have no choice!!! I have many close friends there too...Use your brain and think about other people before you post a question like this again!!! ENJOY YOUR FREEDOM!!! BELIEVE ME FREEDOM IS NOT FREE!!!!!!!!!!

When you say killed in Iraq are you counting the Iraqi civilians too? If not that invalidates your question. Which was not a very intelligent question to begin with.
But I'll answer anyway. Because Detroit is part of the United States, not foreign territory. That was easy right? Now I've got one for you. 30,000 people died in traffic fatalites last year, why not stop driving?

Most have left Detroit. And Detroit was left for the people of Detroit to decide what to do...
Once the automotive industry collapsed many did leave.

Great question: When Katie Couric, Wolf Blitzer, CNN - Clinton News Network or MSLSD report it let the rest of us know. You'll never here this or any story coming out of Iraq that is not Anti-American and demoralizing to Americans and our Troops fighting in harms way. I fear Radical Islam but I fear Radical Liberalism more right here in our country. The dems. are the true enemy from within

Detroit is the capitol of Arab Muslims in the US, so we must stay there to protect our Muslim brothers even though they use their taxi cabs to kill our young college boys from Ohio. BTW have you noticed that Muslims seem to be trying to kill Christians and Jews all over the world.

31 people were killed in Detroit out of a population of 947,000 people. 83 American troops were killed in Iraq out of a population of 140,000 people. Do the math and say I'm sorry. ( For the month of Jan 07 )
