There is no such thing as a "bullet proof vest." Bullet resistant, yes. Bullet proof, no.
That being said, just about any knife can penetrate soft body armor. Soft body armor is typically made from layers of Kevlar, or some other strong fabric. This fabric is cut to shape at the factory with scissors, so it is clearly vulnerable to any sharp blade. In fact, even the highest grade of body armor, Class IIIA, is vulnerable to not only blades, but nearly all rifle bullets, as well.
This is why soft body armor is frequently augmented by steel or ceramic plates, which are typically inserted into pockets on the vest in the chest and back areas. These provide increased protection from high velocity rounds, and blades as well.

Firstly there is nothing that is bullet proof, just very resistant Secondly, There is a difference between Bullet proof vests and stab/slash proof vests. Bullet proof vests spread the impact of a blunt object very quickly - thus a bullets force is spread across the persons upper body - this is why if you see someone who was shot with a vest on, they will have a HUGE bruise because the impact was spread out Now. Any arrow with a sharp broad head or warhead if your a traditional archer will easily cut through a bullet proof vest because it is made to spread the impact of a blunt force not a sharp one. Bullet proof vest would be easily sliced by an arrow just the same with a knife. Stab/slash proof vests have knitted layers which are so close together that a blade has no where to 'dig in' so to speak to cut the vest. Riot police dont use bullet proof vests because most riots dont have guns, but do have glass and other pointy things which they throw. You can get dual protection which is both bullet and stab/slash proof but those are so expenisve its not worth equipping a prison guard with such an expensive piece of gear for something which will very unlikely happen. SOOO Short answer. Yes, if the draw weight and speed of the arrow are good enough, but mostly a very powerful bow will make speed redundant

A vest like the ones 90% of street cops use the answer would be yes a knife will go through it. depend on the trauma plate an officer is wearing will also determine if a knife will penetrate. A hard trauma plate no, soft plate yes. They do make vests designed for corrections officers that protect against edge weapons but they are not bullet proof.

Yes it can, and with ease. Kevlar is pretty much useless against a knife. I know it seems weird that a vest can stop a bullet, but not a knife. But, some vest come with porcelain and/or metal plates, which a knife cannot be penetrated.

unfortunately, absolutely yes, as every vest manufacturer I've ever researched will tell you. some vests provide slash protection but stab protection is limited because of the difference between someone Pushing on a sharp object and a relativelty small, low mass (but fast moving) object which only has to be halted for a very brief time.
Arrows will often pierce bullet proof vests as well.
Some mof the more serious armor has hard plates. Knives (or arrows) won't go through those.

If you are speaking about a vest made of Kevlar. The answer is positively YES. A good hunting bow will send a broad head pointed arrow through any Kevlar vest made. Kevlar is designed to spread the forces of impact, an extreme point, like a knife tip or arrow defeats this completely.

A few years a couple Russian security guards, who were drinking on duty, wondered the same thing. So, one of them stabbed the other with a bayonet. Yep, killed him.
Soft Kevlar vests can be penetrated by knives, particularly thin, narrow blades, like an ice pick. Correction Guards wear a different kind of vest that provides protection from knives.

One of my favorite Darwin Awards went to a Russian who was wearing a bullet proof vest and wanted to know the answer to that question. So he asked his partner to try to stab him in the chest with a knife.
In case you are wondering, yes he died. That's why he got a Darwin Award.

Some of them. Many bullet proof vests are designed to absorb impacts from dull objects, a sharp knife (or sharp bullet) can travel through them.

Good chance, vests are made from interwoven material so the weave stops a bullet where a pointed object can go through the weave.
