I live in an apartment that apparently has some kind of wall blocker thingy that prevents screws from being inserted into the wall itself to install a curtain rod. What kind of rods could I possibly use that don't require a deep hole to be put into the wall, or possibly no holes at all?
And no - I am opting to NOT take the thumbtack/pushpin route :)

there are a few things on the market now that allow you to stick hangers on the walls and the ones made by 3M are even removable. there is no such thing as a blocker to keep screws from going in though. you are hitting either a steel lintel or concrete.

get somebody to look at yo problem -- there is no such thing as a wall-blocker for screws ---- there are solutions to your dilemma... the hardware store can sell all the stuff that you need --- get a nail and hammer it into the wall --- only 1/2 way so it can be pulled out and see what is behind --- it is most likely the wood header that supports the window --- if it a concrete or block wall then you need to drill and put in wall anchors .... good luck

I've use industrial strength velcro for hanging things. Never tried it on a curtain rod but I put a flag pole up outside with it and it worked. Stuck it to brick. I don't know if it would hold heavy drapes but it might hold lighter curtains.

Check at Home Depot, or some such store, for these wall mount things that use some sort of sticky putty or tape. Some of those are supposed to be able to hold a lot.

Use Tension Rods. The kind with springs in them. You set them on the inside of the window.

You can use the spring extension kind. No holes and easy and cheap. Works like a shower curtian rod.
