I know that you don't want to hear this but the ONLY way to lose the extra weight IS diet and exercise. I just recently started a diet for the first time in my life and if I would have known it was going to get easier with each week I would have started months ago. Cut back on junk foods and stop drinking soda. I actually crave water now and two months ago I hated it so you will get use to it. Go for a jog when you get home from school or ask you mom to buy you some fun workout tapes. The Firm works great. Most of all tell your mom how you are feeling and ask her to start making low fat meals. It is easier to lose the weight now then when your 25. Don't hate yourself! Love yourself and believe that YOU CAN DO IT!

Good for you for wanting to lose weight. The best thing you can do is exercise. You will need to get your heart rate up enough to burn the fat and start building some muscle too. So you need cardio and resistance. Start by walking or jogging and try to do it for at least 30 minutes a day. Many say only three days a week are good and maybe so. Just be careful that you don't over do it. A good routines is key. Watch what you eat and try to eat foods that help burn the excess fat. Stay off junk food and sodas. If you want more information, visit this site and read some of the articles.

I'm sorry that you feel so badly about yourself. I'm also sorry to tell you that there is no magic pill to make you slim (although, 162 doesn't sound that bad- how tall are you?) There are some simple things you can do, though. When I switched from regular pepsi to diet, I lost 10 pounds pretty quick. So give up all sugary drinks- it only takes about a week to get used to the taste of diet drinks, then you won't be able to stand regular soda. Eat a piece of fruit before every meal. Cut out some of the fat you eat- try baked chips instead of fried, skim milk (you'll get used to that pretty quick too ) fat-free salad dressing (try diffferent ones until you find 1 you like) avoid fast food, if you must have it, get a kids meal- NO SUPER-SIZE STUFF, use Splenda or other artificial sweetener instead of sugar. You don't have to do any special exercises, just WALK. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Do a few sit-ups or push ups every time you watch tv. You can do it- don't hate yourself!

okay- let me tell you what I did- please consult your doctor first, I'm a bit older than you- so please be careful- I took some diet pills-- BUT - I also changed my diet and began running. I know you probably want to loose weight for the summer. But what I did was this- all spring and summer- I became NON-EXISTANT! I came home, did whatever i needed to do, homework, snack, bathroom, etc. Changed and went for a jog- At first- my jogs were short, but i did make a goal- and once I accomplished my goal- i increased the distance.
At first, you feel dumb, so put an ipod or discman- whatever you have- listen to it- becareful around your surroundings too- maybe even bring a friend along- well anyway- at first, you get tired fast, so slow down, jog and walk, jog and walk... until you can finally just jog a mile or two.. or even 5... after a few jogs, when you feel comfy jogging, you'll begin feeling great! make sure you eat your veggies and just don't drink any sodas and really try not to eat any sweets. i now you don't want to hear that- but just stay away from it. Keep hydrated, so drink water. juices aren't too good for you either, they have a lot of sugar which can become fat, i think. If and when you drink juice, make sure it's 100% JUICE-.
good luck- just be dedicated, i lost about 25 lbs over the whole spring/summer. But like i said, i did diet pills, ate portioned meals, stayed away from sodas and sugars... drank plenty of water- and make sure you sleep enough.. about 8 hrs... something about, if you dnt sleep enough, you can actually gain weight- GOOD LUCK!!

My son is 12 and 158lbs. I'm 42 and 323lbs. I can tell you that you have to make a life style change. The people that I know who have lost weight and kept it off are the ones who said, "I don't like the way I live and I'm going to change it." If you can't say that, then you will graduate high school at 200lbs.
The life style change begins with your family. When Mom goes to the store, she cannot bring home the easy food that you like to pack in. Nothing that is "individually wrapped" like candy of snack bars. Fruits and veggies for snacks. You have to have a cooked dinner such as a meat and 2 veggies. No deserts. Eat cereal for breakfast with an apple.
When you get home from school, unless it is raining, stay outside for at least an hour. I don't care if you are just walking circles in the yard, or riding a bike, stay outside.
You will not loose a pound for the fist month or more doing this but you probably won't gain one either. As you become more comfortable with your more health life style change, your body will change. you cannot go back to your old eating habits as soon as you loose the weight. The change has to be permanent. At your age, that should be possible. I keep gaining the weight back because I keep going back to my old life style.
Good Luck and God Bless.

play sports! When I was your age I joined the track team and therefore had to run and do situps which kept me in shape. But sometimes it could be embarrasing if you run slow - I was a smoker so I didn't last long. So THEN I joined the tennis team - I wasn't very great at first - but I improved so much - I got the most improved player award - I even have photos of me with tones arms - I had a firm stomach - I had such confidence and energy...man I'm missing those days ha...Oh, and if say, you are not great at sports, and don't want to do it at school, play at a park district and take tennis or swimming lessons - I think it really is the best thing to do - especially at your age because it's fun, you keep in shape, make friends, gain confidence, and learn a skill. Also, buy a cute dress - if I am having a fat day - a cute slimming solid color not cheapo stetchy material dress always makes me feel better.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

Start by how you think about yourself. Are you your hair? Of course not - you cut your hair, you change its color, you change the style - Brittanny shaved it all off. And while she may look weird, she is still Brittany.
If you had a skin disease that gave you scales on your skin - would you be the scales? Again, of COURSE not!
would you like contact lenses to change the color of your eyes? High heeled shoes to make you taller? None of these changes to your appearance change who YOU are.
So why do you think of your excess weight as being YOU. It is only another part of your appearance that you can change. When I was younger (and foolish) I put on 45 pounds for a play. That was fun - but the taking it off afterwards wasn't. Now I know there is padding and acting - but I never lost sight of who I was, even with the extra weight.
Now weight is a lot harder to change than hair color, and it takes work and diet and determination. You know that.
But don't make it all harder by somehow thinking that YOU and your weight are somehow the same thing. If you want to change your appearance - you can. You will. Weight, clothes, hair - whatever you really want to change, you can.
The other bit of advice I would share - don't talk about it. Don't tell people you're starting a program or a diet, just quietly do it. Don't tell them you've lost ten or fifteen or sixty pounds - just do it. For whatever reason, even good friends somehow will try to tempt you, lead you astray. They will be proud of you when you succeed but along othe way? Better to keep the whole to yourself and just do it.
And you can. If you really want to, you will.

Ok, first of all, I totally understand. I mean seriously I've gone through that. Over my life, I've always been "chubby" But the thing to focus on, is good things. Such as for me, soccer. Bein overweight for soccer could help because you can use your body easy, and get the ball right away. I know you said no diets, but my problem was snacking too much, so my plan is 3 meals a day, 1 snack, water or diet soda. goodluck!!! Feel better!!
