Be honest I would not live a polygamist lifestyle if my wife can serve me well along her life.Polygamy is allowed by Allah the only one God as spoken in the holy Qur'an up to 4 wives. But it is only an emergency door if (1)the first wife can not serve him well caused of her long illness (2)the first wife can not give birth to a kid (3)husband has a capability to bear the living cost of more than one wife and (4)husband can treat all of his wives fairly. But God spoke in the holy Qur'an that no man can act fairly on loving all of his wives..So it is better if I have only one wife because my wife will be sad if I have another wife.My financial burden will be more bigger if I have more than one wife.Adultery is prohibited in islamic teaching so polygamy is better solution than fornification.
If my lust is bigger than normally I can overcome/manage this desire by fasting or masturbation or physical exercise that is allowed in Islam..Muhammad pbuh had more than one wife after the first wife Hadijah died, but he could serve his wives fairly and he married again for helping orphans and their mothers were old.

The legality of it isn't even an issue. If I had the money to support more than one wife I would more than one...it is permissible in some religions to have multiple wives (I follow one such religion) and that being the case, the legality doesn't matter. Religions law is the ONLY valid law and ALWAYS take precidence over civil law.

I see nothing wrong with polygamy. I see nothing wrong with interdenominational or interracial or gay marriages. I see nothing wrong with Anna Nicole Smith marrying a 89 year old guy. The goverment, religions and society should not stick their nose into the sexual and familial arrangements of consenting adults.

No. If a man is allowed to have several wives, then it's only fair that a woman be allowed to have several husbands, but then everybody would marry everybody else, and marriage would lose its meaning.
