My husband has a sore on his chest that has been there for about 6 days with no improvement. It is about 3" in diamater with a very large and hardened core (about the size of a quarter). There is a puss like area (kind of like a dark white head) in the center.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If your husband had a bite from a poisonous spider, the only question you would be asking is what type of spider bit him. If it was a bite from a poisonous spider, your husband would have been in extreme pain and been sick before the boil appeared. After six days, a spider bite would cause a blackish-purple hole where the tissues were killed. I was bitten by a poisonous spider that was not much bigger than 4 pinheads, and it felt like all the nerves on one side of my body were set on fire, and it felt like that for almost a week. You can look at photos of a brown recluse bite at the link below. I would bet he has a boil.

That doesn't really sound like a spider bite. Sounds more like a boil or possibly an infected hair follicle. If it's as big as you say, he probably needs to see his doctor to have it lanced and get an antibiotic ointment. An anti-inflammatory med like Motrin may help the pain and swelling, but I think stopping the brewing infection in there will be the solution.

It's difficult for non=medical people to make a diagnosis with that. I'd say he'd have to go to the doc! You're right in thinking it could be staph though, many people think things are spider bites, but in reality they are MRSA.

nicely the two way she needs to hunt for scientific help, those to assumptions are grounds for scientific interest if she wont bypass call an ambulance it might desire to be her existence (and yours) you would be saving, if that's staph an infection that's totally contagious. desire I helped and that i'm hoping you do the wonderful element.

Sounds like a pimple.
EDIT: Is it hard(ish) in the middle? It could be a folicular cyst..

I would say have it checked by a doctor. It could be either one and why take chances?
