lost my dog's vaccination papers?

so i lost them, how can i do it to show the vet he has all his shots? this dog belonged 2 friend of mine that passed away so i took the dog into my home..but now i dont know what vet she took him to, to try and retreive a copy of the papers

if he has a rabies tag, you can probably have the new veterinarian look on a database and see if they can find when the tag was issued. as for his other vaccines, i don't know if there's much you can do to retrieve his record. maybe you could call other vets in the area and see if they have a record of the dog?

in response to the previous post, i would definitely not vaccinate the dog until you can find out when the dog was vaccinated last. there is a huge health risk of overvaccinating a dog, and sometimes it can kill them.

If the dog has a tag, the vet's number is on it. Otherwise the only way is to call vets that could be a possibility and ask them or if it is required to have dogs registered with the city where you live, they should have record of vaccination. The only other alternative is revaccination... it won't hurt the dog, it will jsut cost you money.

Usually is you know your fiends previous address you can map out some local vet offices by there. try calling some. Also go to your vet and talk to them. Im sure that they will help in any way that they can. Oh and find out if the dog has a micro chip. this could contain some information valuable to the vet. good luck .

You can try calling a few local vets to see if they have any info on that person/pet's name..If the shots have been at least a year ago..it wont hurt the dog to give him the vaccines again..Just talk to your vet and see what he reccomends if you cant find any other info.
