Well, I've worked at three restaraunts over the years, all of which have served chicken, including Kenny Rogers Roasters, and the general rule on raw chicken was 2 days in the walkin fridge. However, the shelf life of raw chicken is about 3 days at 35 degrees Farenheit. If it's been in the fridge since Feb 12, throw it out, it is way too far gone to eat.

If you are going to freeze it now then it is good for about a month. But if you have it in the refrigerator then it is good for about a couple of more days. They put the sale by date on the meats because the grocery stores don't know when a customer is going to actually start cooking the meat. So it has to be sold at a certain time just in case they wait. It is not waiting too long and they are selling you rotten meats. Most of those meats are cheaper and good to cook right away because the grocery store meats are in a refrigerator section and it can't stay like that too long but if it was in a refrigerator it extends the life of a meat. So the answer to your questions is yes it is good. But don't have it just sitting out. Treat it like the date is not there and cook it. I would put it in the freezer until I was ready to use it. Alot of people see the date on something and just get scared it is ok honestly!

With it being in the refridgerator as well as it being passed the date it serves as a prime suspect for food borne illiness. Its best to throw it away. If it were to be in the freezer it would keep longer. However; in the fridge it can only be kept for a few days to a week. If you still would like to eat it check the color. If it no longer is pink and has turned brown it's time to get rid of the chicken. Even though it will be cooked at high temperatures it won't kill all the bacteria, germs, or illiness. Hope this helps!

Today is the 19th, a week after the sell-by date. I wouldn't take a chance on it. Open the packaging and take a whiff. Even if the smell is not bad, I still would not chance it. Salmonella can make you very sick. Best to throw away a few dollars worth of chicken instead of having regrets. And if you've never had food poisoning, believe me, you will be glad of that advice!

Anything passed its sell by date throw away. Food has an expiration date for a reason. I would defiantly throw away the chicken, you do not want to get salmonella poisoning and get very sick

The sell by date is several days earlier than the use by date. It hasn't been that long, so it should be fine. As long as it smells fine and looks fine, and doesn't feel slimy or anything I'd trust it.

If a chicken or other meat goes bad, you can smell it. It's a nasty raunchy smell. You will know immediately if it's no good. Open it and find out.
