I have the JVC GZ-MG21US hard drive camcorder, and I've been trying to move my video onto my laptop. I can find the folder with the videos in it, but they have a .mod extension and are basically unreadable with any media player software I have, even VLC player. I've also tried renaming them to .mpg, but they will play in WMP 11 with no audio. Any ideas?

JVC stores the video in files with a .MOD extension which are standard MPEG-2 VOB files with Dolby Digital sound. Third-party editing applications should be able to edit them.

I prefer AC3Filter for sound decoding.
If you can play DVD's you should be able to play the .MOD files.
Try Super and MediaPortal if you still have problems.
