my brother and his wife asked me to be the God mother of their new baby girl. I said yes, and they are having her baptised the last sunday of march. My husband is in the army and well we live in Kansas at the moment. I am having to go down to my home town to be apart of my niece's baptism.
My question is. What do you wear to this sort of thing? I have never been to a baptism before. What is alright to wear? I dont want to go and be under dressed or over dressed. Please help. I have plenty of time to find something, but I dont want to wait until the last minute to look.
I appreciate your answers.

You all have very nice answers. Thank you for the heads up on having to get her a rosary and other things. My brother didnt tell me that. I dont think they are buying her baptism dress though. I think they are going to use their first daughters. But I am not sure.
Thank you for the clothing ideas. I will keep them all in mind when I go shopping and find me something.

Congratulations!
You should wear something nice. No jeans or anything too casual. If you like to wear dresses or a skirt that would be nice but nothing too revealing. If you dont like to do that wear a pants suit. Just make sure that what you wear is respectable...something like what you'd wear to a job interview maybe.

What an honer, you go dressed in nice light colors , It would be nice to wear a campaign color that would go nice with your nieces dress. BTW your suppose to buy your niece her baptism dress and also her dress for after the baptism and all of her under garments along with a gold necklace and her candle and a rosary and a keepsake too..

'church like clothes. not short skirts or anything tight. You will be representing that child as her god mother. Congrats its a big honor. Just in case a gift of a cross to hang over the bed is very nice.

Wear a dress, skirt and blouse or dress slacks and blouse with dress shoes. Smile pretty for the camera if one is being used.
