The best place for a first date is a nice, upscale bar that serves food--
1. It is usually dimly lit, so you are not staring at each other in stark, bright light--that way, you don't feel so self-conscious.
2. There is usually music and other people, so if you run out of things to talk about, you can always laugh at the falling-down-drunk guy.
3. If you do drink, the alcohol will help you feel uninhibited--maybe even a little sexy. (most people become super self-confident after a drink or two, and that, in itself is a turn-on). (Just don't drink TOO much--or who knows where that will lead!)
4. You will get an idea what he is like around other women--does he stare at them, or does he keep his eyes glued to you? Is he polite after a cocktail or two? Does he treat the waitress with respect and courtesy? Or does he become an idiot? (I have a very good friend who is the quietest, most polite gentleman in the world, but after three drinks, he becomes loud, starts fights with guys twice his size, and grabs women's asses--we keep him around for comic relief and try to keep him from being killed).
So, find a semi-quiet, up-scale, adult bar. Have a couple of warm up shots, and a nice appetizer to share. Sit in your own private area, and see what happens. Chances are, you will have a lovely conversation in which you both might say a little too much, but just enough to keep it interesting.

Do something you enjoy doing. Whilst many may suggest a bar or dinner at a restaurant, I feel these places are too common and cliché. It's what people expect and it'll only make you more nervous. Instead, do something you enjoy doing with people or alone. For instance, go to the park or go bowling like someone suggested. The most important thing is that you have a place where it's not too noisy and you can talk, as well as a place where at the same time you can distract yourselves with the activity at hand.,

Hourly Hotel with free wine and condom. request extra towel when you get your key. and if you don't show up on time then automatically switch from hourly to the whole night staying. just make sure you put it all on his credit card and leave a fake name for yourself. just in case if he's horrible on bed. and next time you happen to be going there again but with a different guy. you can just say it wasn't you because you have different name every-time. and better yet if you know the hotel manager and are on the affiliate program where you get 30% of the total bill for commission where they can just charge him top dollars for everything. and have your earnings transfer to your PayPal account every-time automatically. remember you are not a whore. you are not having sex for money. you are simply helping to promote the hotel and bring more business to the hotel. as a first date couple they gonna need a hotel room somewhere anyways. would you rather go to a strange hotel and wake up don't know where you are. wouldn't it be much better if you go to a hotel where you know it well and through and through. safer this way.

I would say do a day-date. Lunch or coffee, something like that. If at anypoint something gets a little heavy, you can say you forgot about an appointment, but you would like to see them again. I would say a brief first date, would give you an insight into that person, what they like, what they don't like, also give you something to talk about next time. A day-date isn't so long, and there aren't the associated "responsibilites," where to go, what to eat, what to watch, all this while trying to impress the person.

My opinion is DONT go to the movie. Because if you don't know each other yet and you go to the movies you still won't know each other cause you aren't supposedly o talk in the movie theaters. I think I would probably do my first date in a restaurant do you can talk a bit more. HOPS I HELPED!!! :D

Depends on your interests and where you live but... I like the zoo... a museum is nice too... Something interesting like that distracts from the nervous discomfort of the first date and yet is quiet enough to talk and listen to each other as you come to know each other some.
