This is a rephrase of my last question which was obviously unclear. Hunting is legal in Texas, and you dont have to eat the meat. In California its legal, if a person sees a lion or any wild cat, its legal to shoot on site. Bigcatrescue.org, shows that nearly all 50 states in american legalize this practice. In the Middle East the governments collect a cat species called, Sand Cats, a little smaller than average house cats, and uses them for military target practice. To exclude the idea of this practice taking place is just ignorant, and obviously an uninformed person would reply with hostility. there are other forms of cruellty aswell, but that will be found on peoples own time.

I think it should be illegal. I think that you should only hunt for survival and that is not necessary today. I think it is CRUEL to hunt for fun...use a dang target!
It is sadistic going around shooting live, breathing creatures. They all have a purpose and should be left alone to live out their lives. We should be good stewards and take care of them rather than abuse them.

We don't hunt animals just for fun. Regulated hunting allows the harvesting of certain species of animal to keep their populations from exceeding their habitat's carrying capacity. That means if the population of animal gets too large, the habitat will not be able to support them and they will inevitably die off and make their environment uninhabitable for other species. For an example, think of humans. We have no predation and will soon run out of resources on this planet. We cannot prevent this humanely. However, we can offer predation to animals who need it. They know nothing other than the basic and primitive way of life: kill or be killed.

Yes we enjoy the outdoors and the thrill of the hunt, but we hunt to harvest populations of animals that will in turn benefit form our population regulation. Hunting is ecologically beneficial. Any hunting that is not should not be allowed.

yes that was something from the past ,by now Nature has shrunk so much and world population has doubled in the last 50 years that the strain on natural resources including Flora and Fauna ,is serious

for the first time since the days of the dinosaurs we are witness to another mass extinction of species
the delicate equilibrium of Eco systems is in danger every where

plants and Animals are important components of this balance ,that has taken millions of years to develop.

when i was young i hunted for pelts in the BC rocky mountains
and have hunted in Africa ,to day my life is conservation
.
All of the professional hunters that i have ever known have all done this turn about .and they know the animals ,how it used to be and how it looks now.

My attitude today is that if you breed animals you have the right to eat them .

what is in the wild belongs to Nature and we cant steal from that anymore

with the exception of the obtrusive ethical obstacles it relies upon on the animal's secure practices, the country, and the area - like a reserve or some thing. that's criminal till otherwise reported. yet while that's endangered, that's reported. So in essence, unlawful. additionally, as quickly as the animal is lifeless that's close to impossible to pass any of it via customs or borders in the two the country you're leaving and going to. through maximum international locations realising they make greater from recognizing vacationers than searching vacationers.

Well, the only thing in the California Fish and Wildlife code that remotely resembles what you are talking about with the mountain lions is section 4807a:

Any mountain lion that is encountered while in the act of pursuing, inflicting injury to, or killing livestock, or domestic
animals, may be taken immediately by the owner of the property or the owner's employee or agent.

The California Fish and Wildlife Code on cats is addressed in Section 4151:

Any house cat (Felis domesticus) found within the limits of
any fish and game refuge is a nongame mammal, unless it is in the residence of its owner or upon the grounds of the owner adjacent to such residence.

So it is legal to shoot a Mountain Lion that is damaging property or other animals. It is also only legal to shoot a house cat if it is in a fish and game refuge, also for the reason of protecting the native wildlife.

Kind of makes me think the "bigcatrescue.org" website might be exagerating a little bit.

As for the middle Eastern military using Sand Cats...sorry, never heard of that one, so I can't speak too intelligently on it.

If you want to check the California law, feel free...

It seems some of the basic facts in your statement are distorted or false. That aside, should people be allowed to hunt animals for their fur value or for fun?

Probably. Humans are at the top of the food chain due to our intellectual ability and our ability to use tools. Humans have really screwed up the ecosystem to the point where few predators exist anymore. If populations are left unchecked, the result is overpopulation, starvation, and the transmission of diseases within or across species'.

Some animals like a deer, elk or antelope make a good steak and many people are willing to kill them for their food value.

What about animals like racoons, mountain lions, wolves, and coyotes? I guess they can be eaten but it isn't something I've heard of people doing in America. They are killed for the fun of it or their monetary value. Like it or not, it has to be done. Coyotes are rapidly becoming a threat to pets as the result of urban sprawl and the resulting availablility of easy food. Wolves in Alaska are being left unchecked and are having negative effects on Moose and Caribou heards. Raccoons are pests and can attack humans if accidently (or purposely) cornered. I've never been around mountain lions, but I hear they can be a threat to livestock.

Anyway you look at it, hunting is cruel, but it is a necessesity due to the damage humans have done to nature. Nature is even more cruel than hunting.

Not everything is appealing to eat, so they must be killed for fun or for money.

You know, it was cruel for you to tell us this horrible news. It almost sounds as if you are in favor of hunting cats. I am going to post a reference to this question on the cat forum, and see if they like your question.
It seems like the people on the cat forum believe you are not in favor of animal cruelty.
Crazy J has been reported for calling me a Fu6king *****, and obviously she is not in favor of a free and open discussion, just slurring people.

What's wrong with hunting for fun? The animals would run all over if we didn't. I do love animals, but you have to understand that they are not the same things as humans.

i think hunting should be leagal, but meat must be eaten. trading of furs should be allowed, but not just for the fur, and number of killes should be limited.
