We're talking about symbolism here. The fig tree symbolized Israel. The lack of fruit symbolized the lack of fruit of the Holy Spirit. Israel(the fig tree) was in rebellion to the teachings of Christ. Anyone who doesn't produce fruit is worthless.

It was a lesson. A Christian who does not produce fruit is worthless. Scripture says "You will know them by their fruits". Fruits such as Mother Theresa's. I am not saying everybody has to be a Mother Theresa but, their love for Jesus must be that strong. I love St. Theres' , The Little Flower's, writings about her little way. She says to just do the best job at little things for the love of Jesus and this will be just as good.

That would be God. As I recall, He dealt with it in the way He deals with most things that displease Him. He killed it!

Sounds like my father. He's a ill-tempered nut.
Could also be Jesus too.
