My old dating habits from many years ago were mostly catch a show or go out for a coffee. Now I'm in more of a mood for more exciting and stimulating outings. My hobbies are of an outdoor recreation type, such as rock-climbing, kayaking, etc. Would something like that be appropriate?

Thanks for your time.

I would love to try something new like rock climbing or kayaking on a date. Maybe as a warm up for future outings, you can ask her to go to a rock climbing wall with you so that she can try it out (probably less scary than climbing a real rock if she's never done anything like that before). I would work this in with more traditional date-like things like maybe a nice picnic for lunch after paddling or hiking all morning.

Depends on where you are! Not KC, too cold now. Try indoor rock climbing or better yet, she may not be into that. Work out together at a gym (can even get a free trial membership) free date!! Walk in the park, outdoor mall, carnivals, amusement parks, I have tons of ideas but it helps to know where you are and your age/activity level

I disagree with luisa. A competitive date might open up the way for some playful banter and flirting. Besides, doing what you love - I mean it's the perfect way to see someone's true colors. If she's really the girl for you she'll be easy going enough to give your hobbies and interests a try. Why stick to conservative dates if that's not who you are? If you're not a collared shirt guy at the moment then go for hiking boots and a girl who's up for them too!

A competetive activity is not a good idea for a first date. Take her somewhere quiet, romantic yet fun, where you can talk and get to know her. Martini bars are great for this.

Yeah! I'd be thrilled if a guy asked me to go kayaking with him...

Just make her think you have money.
