allergies??
We use a product on our dog with seasonal allergies (loses hair and skin becomes inflamed (bumpy, irritated looking and itchy) It is called MTG (Mane Tail Groom), a product for horses. It is a yellow substance in a clear bottle. Most livestock/horse supply stores should have it.
Rub that on with a cloth once a day and it should clear up within a week (if allergies). It is a little stinky (sulfur) but I haven't found anything that worked better, including the inflammation creams and steriods the vet prescribed, and it is a lot cheaper too!

He may have allergies. My dog had similar problems like that. He would get red rashes all over because he was allergic to a type of flooring in our house. You can try washing him in a good no itch shampoo. At petco, petsmart, walmart, they will have shampoo with either oatmeal or medications that will stop the rash and decipate the iching. It worked with my dog. Also dyphenhydramine (spelling?) Found in allergy medications will help greatly. Give one pill in food. But ask you vet on the phone if they agree to try it. Our vet suggested it to us. Keep the area where the bumps are dry and pay attention to when they show up the most. He may have a reaction to the toys, bedding, foods, It could be a number of things. It probably isn't his food that's causing the issues so check around the house or backyard. I hope I helped you out.

As for food, try a brand called Canidae. Its all natural and healthy for all dog life stages.
For the itching, it could be dry skin. Try fish oil capsuls. Half of the contents of one capsul daily. If the itching is due to dry skin, this will fix the problem and also leave him with a smooth and healthy coat.
When he is in the middle of an itching spasm try giving him either 1cc (1ml) of children's liquid benedryl or one half of a 25mg tablet (which ever is easier for you). If this is a fix, then he probably has allergies.
Try bathing him in an oatmeal based dog shampoo or use baby shampoo (its gentle, inexpensive, and smells good!)
Clean his bedding often (vaccum it if you can't wash it)
If he's still getting his puppy shots, it may be causing the allergy. My Pomeranian was allergic to the Lyme and Bordatella shots.
My Pitbull is also a very itchy dog. She doesnt have fleas but she gets hives all the time. Most of my suggestions may be temporary relief for your dog.
Good luck!!!

my puppy pits had the same thing its basically like a heat rash or an allergy to something the dog came in contact with you should give the puppy a bath in some hypo- allergy shampoo and them maybe also use a dog conditioner. there skin is sometimes sensitive like humans but no body really pays to much attention because there just dogs.

the best thing would be to try another vet, animals get allergies to, my pit bull was having the same problem and what is was, the bed we had bought for her was causing her skin irritation so if you have a pet bed for her or some kind of blanket she lays on that could possibly be the problem. also treats, food, and other things like that can cause the itchiness. it could be numerous problems try changing things one at a time it might be easier to figure it out that way

My dog had really bad allergies, and he was especially allergic to Bordetella (which technically isn't a required shot unless you're boarding him at a kennel or getting him groomed a lot, my vet was just a money-sucking scumbag who never told us this). His skin would turn red, he would shake his head a lot, and his face would swell up. So the vet eventually had to give my dog a shot of Depo Medrol (a steroid) periodically whenever our dog would have breakouts. We eventually narrowed down his allergies to that shot, as well as environmental allergens. But definitely be watchful if your dog may be allergic to something - one time our vet forgot to give our dog a shot of Depo after his Bordetella, and our dog died that night b/c the vet wasn't on call like he was supposed to be! It was the most horrible thing i've ever had to go through.

Allergies sounds like the best answer, but it may not be food alleriges. Try experimenting with shampoos and washes. My AmStaff can only be bathed once a week using Johnson's Baby Shampoo, which I wouldn't typically recommend but it works for him.

I agree that it's allergies. I have had the same problem with a couple of my dogs.
One of the best thing's to fight allergies with is honey, made locally in your area. Drizzle a little over your pups food and stir it up.
You can sometimes find the honey at a local health food store or independent farmer.
(You can use it for yourself if you suffer allergies as well.)
