We stayed at the King Kamehameha hotel in Kona. We got a good deal on it, and it was a nice enough place, not fancy though. But really, we weren't in the room very much! There is a ton of stuff to do on the Big Island:
- snorkeling (the fish are AMAZING!)
- kayaking
- whale-watching (if it's the right time of year)
- hiking (DEFINITELY visit Volcanoes National Park, it's SO cool)
- swimming
- sunbathing
- shopping
- eating fabulous food
- more snorkeling!
I recommend renting gear from Snorkel Bob, especially if you wear glasses, cause you can get a prescription snorkel mask with different strengths in each eye. He also wrote a hilarious guidebook to the Islands, with lots of common-sense recommendations for things to do, places to go, etc.
The best vacation I ever took was to the Big Island...you will love it, guaranteed! :)

Stay in Kona it doesn't rain as much as the Hilo side of the island.
You'll have to take a helicopter ride over the valcono,. I tell you what. I was afraid of heights and that cured it for me. There's valcano national park also. Go fishing if you can. See if you can get on a chartered boat with some other people, you'll have a blast.www.kona.com, check out this website. Have fun and enjoy.

We stayed at the Kona as well, its a little dingy and shabby now which is a shame because it has a wonderful position, also the breakfast menu left a lot to be desired, but the rooms are big and airy with big Balconies. You must do the stargazing trip up to the observatories on Mauna Kea, its cold but its amazing, something you never forget.

No, Honolulu is the in trouble-free terms tremendous city in Hawaii, and it is on Oahu. Hilo is a smaller city, and Kona is even smaller yet looks higher because that is the vacationer hub- has both a Walmart and a purpose, so it has made the tremendous time.
