I can't think of anything this year to give up. I want it to be something that shows I really care about my beliefs. Any suggestions?

Look at your bad habits.

Are you cynical?
Are you sarcastic?
Do you gossip?

Find the one bad habit that hurts your relationship with God the most.

Work on that bad habit during Lent and then when Lent is over keep working on it.

With love in Christ.

Think of something you really love. Fast food? A certain type of food? Cursing? You can be more strict with your religious practices. You can try fasting from meat all throughout Lent. You can stop going on the computer. Stop playing a game console? Stop staring at girls? I don't know. I just like answering questions. lol

Yahoo solutions ?? (humorous tale) think of of what's maximum necessary to you and which you may incredibly warfare to provide up. this is your answer. What looks like a sacrifice incredibly than token gesture. Or 40 days assisting somebody in desire. that is dazzling. i've got no longer heard of everybody doing something for lent, in easy terms sacrificing. looks like a brilliant custom. p.s. different posters - who cares what faith does or does not say you're able to do for lent. it ain't a technological awareness & contradicts in all places besides. it become created with the help of human beings.

Give up something that you love like watching TV, playing video games, eating at fast food restuarants etc. then figure out how much it would of cost you to do that. Example- Give up cable tv for a week, divide the cable bill by 4.25 and donate that amount to your favorite charity, each week think of something different to give up and donate the money to charity.
God Bless you and keep you safe.

think about things in your life that may need a change. Such as your health, your diet, your family relationships are they where they should be? How about your relationship with God?Do you help your community enough. Lent is not only giving something up, it is also trying to better ourselves and our relationships

Close your eyes and think of three material things you have or enjoy. And be honest with yourself too.

Now, try living without one of those things for lent. It's always a challenge, but you sound like you're up to that level of commitment.

Give up donuts! I work in a bakery and am absolutely dreading work tomorrow. We are scheduled to make 700 dozen fastnacht donuts for those who celebrate Fat Tuesday and Lent.

Aaarrrrrggghh!

Best of luck to you on your search :-)

Try making the promise and effort to attend church as much Sundays as possible and without missing a single Sunday mass service. =)

To take that even further, try giving up some of your time to help with organizing / managing your church's charities, or volunteer be the money collector at mass, or be a youth group leader, or join the choir (children's or adult's based on your age). =)

VOLUNTEER AT YOUR CHURCH! =)

I was raised catholic, so this time of year was always frustrating. This year, I am giving up the idea of giving anything up. Therefore I'm following my religous obligation and not spoiling any fun :)
