I hate to tell you, but for the prices listed on the above referenced site, you'd be better off buying them from there. But, if you're still wanting to build them... First, you'll need some tools - A table saw, a router, a jointer, a thickness planer, a biscuit jointer, and a miter saw, and several bar clamps and alot of wood glue. Next, you'll have to buy the wood - you need 5/4 stock, there are many places to buy this and it's sold by the board foot. Next you'll want to rip the stock into narrow widths, no more than 3 inches, and run all of the edges through a jointer to square them up. After that, run the pieces through a thickness planer and plane them down to about 1 1/16". figure out how many pieces you'll need for 1 tread, including the returns and nosing, if any, and biscuit and glue and clamp together. After 24 hours, remove clamps and add the returns. It would be much faster to take them to a mill-work or cabinet shop and have them sand them to final thickness, 1", on a wide-belt sander, or you can sand them yourself with a belt sander and an orbital sander. Good Luck!!!
