yes it is limited by your knowledge and perceptions. An illiterate guy can never imagine wat a complex algebra formula looks like or what does the inside of a submarine looks like.

I think individual imagination has boudaries set by the society nad culture in which they live, but I think that imagination overall is limitless.
Individual boundaries:
Take the word "snow," in the Inuit language there are more than 20 words to describe snow. In English, there is one word, "snow." Yes, there are adjectives to describe the snow, but it is all "snow." Therefore, English-speaking people are forced into this way of seeing snow as all basically the same, whereas people from other cultures, which rely more heavily on snow, have more terms to describe it and therefore, are able to differentiate between the different types more easily. Language is a limitation as to how the mind works.
As a whole:
Human beings as a race are so diverse that I think anything could be thought up if you had enough differently-minded people working toward this goal of limitless imagination.

Yes - Imagination can fly to the horizon - end - crest of the universe and not more. You can include the whole planetary paths and much more in your mind and thereafter 'you can experience a creek in the brain'. This is called the gate of insanity. Take the mind as the close up of the Universe before try to imagine. (hope not insulted you)

Yes, your imagination is limited by your perceptions. Try to imagine, for instance, a geometrical figure with FOUR spatial dimentions instead of three, and you'll see for yourself that your imagination is, quite unavoidably, limited to what you know.

Too much imagination can really turn you into a dreamer. We all imagine things like "what if I win the lotto" ... keep it up and you will spend more money on tickets than you should .... because you imagine and dream that one day you will.

Not at all.
However, people can let their imaginations be limited by society around them. I can't tell you how many of my students hold back their ideas because they are afraid their ideas sound stupid.

yes, I think there are stuff human beings can't even imagine.
Something bigger, more complicated than anything in our tiny world.
Take for example a cave man, he couldn't have imagined something like the Internet...
