I would like to become involved in a non-profit that promotes literacy/reading for children and/or adults. I emailed a First Book.org for the San Francisco Bay Area but never received a response. Other than the local library, what are some other avenues that I could pursue?

Places like Reading is Fundamental is currently not accepting any volunteers in California. Suggestions?

You know what? I just saw a bunch of flyers on programs for literacy at school today when I went to the CAD office but I can't remember any of the names. If you can wait another day, I'll get them and send them to you or you can drop by SFSU and look on the walls of the Science Building where the Child Development offices are.
