I've heard that cork might help. DesignYourWall.com sells it by the roll. see link below.

It is really hard to accomplish this without tearing down the drywall and adding a real good insulation. But, you can add carpeting to a wall, or cork, but these are usually ugly and smelly! The only other thing I can think of is rearranging your furniture so that your entertainment center is on the shared wall and blasting it away whenever they make noise!

We had that problem at work where the boss wanted privacy. So we had the carpenters install these great big blocks of styrofoam and painted them. I don't remember what they did about finishing the seams--if you can use dry wall mud or not. I know they have these panels at some of the Home Depots. Guess if you are renting, you wouldn't or couldn't install anything permanent.

Put a kinda noisy fan next to the wall - the noise will help cover the other noise, and will make the wall vibrate a little and block a little noise.

There is insulation that you could put between the walls(which means you are going to have to pull off the drywall to get the insulation inbetween. You also can get sound deadening drywall(costs more). You decide. what you want to do.

Install a solid wood door. If that's not possible or fitting, try adhering egg cartons on the adjoining wall (we used them in the 70's for band practices and the neighbors didn't complain any more!)
