Well..The best answer that I can give you is this. According to the letter of the law, a person who is not a legal citizen or someone who has a green card( this card is in essence legal permission to work and hold a Social Security card) is in the US illegally. Now there may be some exemptions for stdent visas etc.

But basically if you have no legal right to be in the US, then you are breaking Federal Immigration laws.

That is why we have an Immigration Dept.

So, to answer your question, yes it is illegal to be an illegal immigrant.

Now as to Bank of America doing what they are doing, all I can say is this. Bank of America is very pro-immigrant due to the fact that they are a Los Angeles based company with a large Hispanic employee base.
Also as everyone knows banks are in business to make money thru fees and credit card fees and interest, so what they are doing is tapping into a new revenue base.

But...There is a good chance that the Govt. will force them to stop doing this. I understand that the Justice Dept is investigating this.

But that is right in line with the pizza place in texas that is accepting pesos as payment for pizza. Technically the coin of the realm so to speak is the Dollar, but these people see this as a way to tap into a new revenue source.

I hope this helps.

The problem is simple OK so listen to me when I say this. Companies have no way to verify SS#'s and if they fire people suspected of being an illegal then lawsuits would ensue that's why. Until we either have a national ID or a way to verify SS#s to the person who presents them then there is no way to tell. Reason number 2: despite what people say there are jobs Americans will not do and 'migrant workers' fill those roles. They work cheaper and do dirty jobs in weather that American will not work in because too many kids/teenagers do not want to work to learn what the real world is like or they thing they should earn 20 bucks an hour which is not the case. I am anti illegal immigration but we need to cut off the border and secure it. We can deal with who is left but amnesty is not the answer. All illegals should never be allowed to become citizens and should never be allowed to vote ever ever ever.

The term Illegal implies that an act of immigrating to a nation without proper approval, this act is stated as an illegal act in every nation on Earth even Mexico, and so the term Illegal applies, the term alien implies that the person or persons are alien to the intended area of habitation, this does not apply, many illegal’s live in little Mexico’s all over the United States, small sanctuary cities that have declared their allegiance to the nation of Mexico, satellite city-states if you will. The police in these cities are held to the laws of the city not the nation, they follow the constitution of the local government not of our nation, therefore they are not part of our nation, they in essence are colonies of an Imperial power which threatens the survivability of the host nation, you see the illegal’s are a cancer on the body of the nation, a caner that has become malignant and is now spreading to every corner of the body nation. The individual cancer cells are not the problem, but when these cells lodge into a vital organs like healthcare, education or the prison system just to name a few, the body nation begins to fail, compromising the entire organ system. We all know what must be done, we just don’t have the stomach to say it, let alone do it. To save the body we must eradicate the cancer that threatens the body.

Of course it is illegal. There is no such thing as an "illegal imigrants".

A person either enters a country legally or they are breaking laws to be within a country.

It isn't all that hard.

My concern is that when the Bank of America (which actually is majority owned by those not American) goes belly up over this foolish stunt that the United States doesn't offer to bail them out like the did years ago with the Savings and Loan mess.

Of course! Except for 'refugees' - or those who wish or want to be declared so, any non citizen who enters(the USA in this case, I guess) is an immigrant. If they didn't enter legally, then they're an 'illegal' immigrant. They can also overstay visas or types of entry permits that are limited that have time restrictions on length of stay. That then makes them 'illegal' immigrants. It's all about the law. It's either legal or it's not.

The act of refusing to comply with the law is "illegal".
The proper noun for someone who commits illegal acts is "criminal."

Willfully aiding known criminals and fugitives is an illegal act, and people who do so are also criminals.

People who use other people illegally to make money or to garner a bigger voter block, while damaging the sovereignty and security of our borders, are known as "traitors."

Santa is making a list.

Legal Immigrant
Following your line of reasoning, an immigrant can't be legal. It is merely a way of defining an immigrant's STATUS in this country.
They are either LEGAL OR ILLEGAL. Period.
If they are illegal, they are also not an immigrant...by definition.
An immigrant follows legal channels.

Immigrating is not illegal.
Humans are not illegal.
Staying here indefinitely, living and working as though one were a citizen, utilizing this country's resources, yet not paying taxes, and with no intention of becoming a citizen, IS illegal.

Illegal immigration is illegal, hence the name. That's why I don't understand why some people treat them with the highest respect when criminals who have committed crimes of equal or lesser value get the shaft.
