I had an unidentified gastric illness around Christmas that included diarreha, nausuea and fevers. My doctor could not figure out what was going on and so all she could tell me was that I had gastritis which she explained to me was simply the inflammation of the stomach and intestines. My stomach was swollen and painful. They couldnt treat me. I followed a bland diet and had to wait ( forever) for it to pass. 2 months later..symptoms flaring up again. The same ones. I have a healthy diet and I exercise. Today I threw out my salmonella-coded Peter Pan Peanut Butter. I havent eaten any for at least a couple of weeks. But I definately was eating it when I got sick around xmas. Since I was untreated..could my symptoms be remnants of Salmonella poisoning? Any other ideas? Doctor is stumped again!

A simple fecal test will tell your doctor if you have Samonella. While you're at it, make him check you for several different kinds of parasites too. Since 50 percent of our fresh fruits and vegetables now come from third world countries illnesses caused by Salmonella, e.coli, parasites and other microorganisms have skyrocketed. Remember, unless the package says GROWN, processed and packaged in the USA, cook it throughly or wash it in bleach. And since there are no rules requiring food to be labeled according to orgin, there's a whole lot you aren't going to be able to tell where came from.

Imported food doesn't have to meet our food safety requirements - it only has to meet the regulations in the country of origin. So, they can use raw human feces for fertilizer, DDT, and a whole lot of other things deemed too dangerous to use in America.

Yes! Thanks for reminding me to look! I had the big a** jar of the Great Value and only 1/4 of it is gone. Don't sure if it made us sick. We're a family of 6 and someone always has a stomach ache. We're not old or plague by illness, generally healthy people so a little salmonella isn't going to do anything but give us some flu like symptoms this time of the year. I think about the main thing I made was Scotcharoos and the peanut butter would have been heated to a boiling point. And to Nickname above me: all about the lawsuit, huh? Sorry, chump you have no damages and no leg to stand on, so to speak. Grow up and get a job! But I am tossing this jar, who has time to be sick. But remain calm, unless you are high risk salmonella won't kill ya!

You should have mailed that jar of Peanut Butter back to the company... they owe you a refund! Salmonella does not stay in your system (your body rids it by getting you sick), so you don't need to worry. You might have that neurovirus thing that's been big this year also. Sounds like you have all the symptoms... In either case, don't worry. Go easy on yourself for the next few days and when you feel better, take vitamins to build your immune system back up.
