If the running back didnt have blockers he wouldnt gain a yard. If a point gaurd didnt have anyone to pass the ball to he wouldnt get any assist.Every sport has teammates it pretty much defines sports.Even golfers need a caddy.I dont understand if theres only one car on a team that driver still needs a crew chief, pit crew, spotters etc..Get a grip nascar is a sport and if you dont think it takes athletic ability to drive a car at 200 mph i suggest you go take a ride with one . I promise you will change your mind.

I seem to recall a race some years ago where in the final laps the drivers placed 1 and 2 were related. And the #2 driver blocked #3 and 4. There was a big deal about it for days afterward, too. Seems like it might have been the Bodine bros...but not 100% sure on that.
At any rate...NASCAR last year imposed a rule limiting any owner to 3 teams in any one particular race. Some got around this by transfering ownership of excess teams to family members (Rouch did this).
Your scenerio is a possibility....as pointed out, has even happened once...but doesn't happen often...and not extreemly likely.

No it doesn't. Teammates are there to help each other out. But do not believe for one second that Driver B would take a dive for Driver A if B had a chance to win the cup. There is still competition between teammates. Most major racing has teammates. IRL, CART, Formula 1, motorcycle... I could go on. So does that make every type of racing a fraud? It happens in all racing.

These drivers put their life on the line every time they get into a car, even in practice. How can the owner of nascar allow the drivers to put themselves in danger, like Dale Earnhart, and then have all these rules about being fair. It shoul be one car to a owner. I have been waiting for nascar to start having a wrestling match before the race for several years now!

Actually countless racing teams in most series field multiple cars. As for taking dives maybe you should go bone up on the 1919 Black Sox scandal in which 8 players faced accusations of accepting bribes to lose the world series.

The final lap scenario....It's a possibility, but I doubt it.
Nobody wants to see any driver 'take a dive', regardless of the situation. Teammates or not... a driver still owes his best effort to his fans, his sponsors, his crew, and so on.
As for owners fielding multiple care teams...it just makes good financial sense. Sharing of resources, shops, testing, feedback, technology, etc. It's a very expensive business to be in.

So if a hockey player needs to score a goal to reach a certain milestone...teammates wouldn't sacrifice their shot and pass the puck?...what about enforcers protecting the Gretzkys...it all depends on your personal view...and being in that position probably means you deserve it anyway...unless the entire feild pulls over...otherwise all the second in points has to do is to win...either way unless teamate takes competition out in a wreck...no problem.

I happen to love that aspect of NASCAR. I like that there are teams. I like that a guy can take one for the team. I like information sharing. I like crew chief switches. I like the team thing. I think the final lap situation is just fine.

Not true. Matt Kenseth didn't take a dive for Mark Martin a few years back. They may be on a team technically, but it's every man for themselves when it comes to the finish line.
