I am a 17 year old female. I don't know why but I am always tired. I can sleep from 6 or 7 PM straight throught the night and still be tired. I was told that I should be able to wake-up naturally when my body is rested, but I sleep at least 10 hours a nite, and when I have the oppertunity, I sleep up to 14 hours a nite and I still can't wake up in the morning. Is this normal?

yes and no. Most girls are the same way. the reason could be that they are anemic because of their periods and lack of iron. So, when you get your next checkup or if it's not soon ask mom to get you in for the test. If you look at the lower part of your eye, pull it out and it looks pale or close to white it means you are anemic. If it's almost red or bright pink it's probably not the case. But, other things can cause tiredness, you are growing and you are young. I can't sleep and would pay good money to slep like that again. So, enjoy it if you can and aren't anemic. It will be gone in a flash. I know everyone is complaining get up...do something. Well, get checked and then get up and do something, it can be a sign of depression too.

i absolutly agree with sandy on this one... although it may take more than just 1 day before you start feeling like a new person... i would think after about a week of doing this u should start to feel better... also, u should definately go see a doc anyway and tell him.... he should check your blood cell count to determine if you are aniemic... you may need to take iron supplements... i was severely aniemic after a surgery i had once and the docs were debating a transfusion.. since i was so scared of it, they chose not to, but when i came home, i was exhausted.... i would literally sleep from 8pm till 5 pm the next day.... once i started taking iron, within a week i was feeling better and within 2 weeks i was almost perfect....

My dear....u sleep too much and your body adapts to your lifestyle like that of a bear......ur body has gone into the 'hibernation' mode!!!

When u wake up.....u were not active enough.....while the bear hunts, swims and chase after seals......u did nothing......excpet perhaps yawn....go to the fridge for food.....and walk right back to bed! So ur body never really got out of that 'hiberating'.......and that's why u still feel tired.

Waht u need is to plunge into a ice-cold pool and swim a hundred laps or so......tingle ur senses, flex ur muscles......and release all those rusty nerves and sty alive again!

Anyway.....try this first.....dont get out of bed......just drop urself down to the floor.......do 50 push-ups........jog for 10 mins on the sopt........dive into the shower.....n turn on the cold water.......dry urself.......n help urself to a breakfast of melons or other fruits....then cereals....chase them with a glass of cold milk...... then dash back to the bathroom.......n dispose of all ur sleepiness and waste u accummulated durng ur hibernation......u shd feel like a new vitalized person!

If u dont......go n see ur doctor in the first car that passes by...

Most people your age only need 8 hours. I'm 13 and I only need 10 hours. =] Drag yourself to the bathroom in a robe and turn on the water in the sink and splat your face with freezing water.

You're sleeping too much and that can cause you to feel fatigued and not well rested when you wake up. You may have a sleep disorder.
