A person that I know has cancer and I want to donate my hair to her. I really don't know anything about it. Can someone help me? How long do you have to grow your hair? My hair is just below my shoulders. Anything that would help me grow my hair faster?(she is probably going to lose all her hair by August or September)

First off, that's really, really sweet of you!!! But I think the minimum amount of hair you can donate in somewhere around 9 inches. (I think.) I know there are some products out there that help your hair grow faster, but I'm not sure what they're called. My mom used it when she had cancer and lost all her hair. I'm sure if you contact Locks of Love, they can help you with all your questions. I've had 2 friends who've donated hair to Locks of Love.

Locks of Love wants your hair to be long enough so when it's tied up at least 10 inches can be cut off. You can do multiple pigtail/ponytails to have you hair reach the minimum length. Most hair salons can help you with information about the program.
In the meantime, go shopping with your friend for hats, scarves, and other headgear. It she starts making these things part of her style now, it will seem almost normal to wear them when she does lose her hair.

To make your hair grow faster I recommend pre-natal vitamins. I know it sounds weird, but it really does work. Just your hair won't make a wig for her though. In order for Locks of Love to make a wig for a child they require many donations of hair. I'm sure that if your friend meets that guidelines for recieving a wig that you could request that your friend recieve your hair though. It is really sweet od you to do this for your friend and I wish you both the best!

I only know of Locks of Love. I donated not too long ago and they want at least 10 inches to donate.

I donated mine to Locks of Love last year and they require at least 10 inches of length for donation. My hair was down past my butt and I donated 17 inches. So nice of you to do this for your friend, I know it gave me a great feeling to help someone out. Best of luck to you and your friend.

you cant donate your hair specifically to her because the wigs that are made out of donated hair are made up of at least 4 people's hair. they go through all the donated hair and pull out all the damaged strands, so in the end its not enough to make a full wig. it's great that u wan tot do that though, and i'm sure she'd appreciate your donation just as much even though she most likely wont get it.

The hair cannot be highlighted or permed or anything like that and it has to at least be i think it was 6 inches long. Good luck to your friend!
