I have a good friend who used to go out and drink ALOT.
She had a baby,
and now when she has about a half a beer her muscles get tight and numb and she has to force herself to relax such as if she is resting her arm on the side of a chair she has to stand up and let it dangle down.
This tapers off if she drinks a bit more.

Well maybe this can be since she just had a baby that she is experiencing alot of stress and anxiety, as when i had my son 5 years ago, thats when all of those same syptoms came about with me. I would get numbness all over especially in my legs and my arm. She may need under alot of pressure and the drinking is giving her a nerve reaction to her system. Find out if she also should get tested from a neurologists and talk to her physician.

She could have a problem with her cervical disk and this is a problem I know a lot about. See a Dr. She could have problems with her electrolytes, not enough potassium, calcium so on...she needs to drink a sports drink and not a beer. This is all I can think of right now. The beer is probably not the real culprit but any more and it may become even more of one. Good luck.

This sounds like an anxiety problem (either that or withdrawal from opiates). Your friend should really see a doctor - and probably not go out drinking until she does.
