At this point it shouldn't be too red or painful, there may still be a bit of discharge, but it shouldn't be constantly oozing. Usually around 6-8 weeks the piercing starts to heal and the fistula (which is the tube of flesh inside) will begin to form. Keep in mind that everyone is very different, so this is an average generalization based on a 6-8 week time frame. Navel piercings take at least 6 months to heal but can take up to a year in some cases. Patience is key.
Its important to still keep the area clean and not to change the jewelry yet to ensure full and proper healing. If you notice any usual bumps or have concerns, you should visit your piercer because he or she will be able to help you best since seeing the problem is better than any description.

6 weeks is not long enough for it to heal. You MUST keep up with the daily cleaning and use the antibacterial soap that they gave you. Mine was still sore a little at 6 weeks and took a long time to heal completely. Be patient and take care of it. Don't keep changing the jewelry. I hope the piercer gave you jewelry that you are not allergic to, mine was surgical stainless steel & I have not had a problem with it. Try to wear lower cut jeans that do not rub on it constantly, that will help. Good luck, you will love it by this summer when it is healed more.

Well, I've never had my belly button pierced, but I know a ton of people who do have it pierced. It's different for everyone. Some people are super tender in that area for a while, and others are perfectly normal. Some take it out, and it starts bleeding profusly. It's different for almost everybody.

you should be able to change the ring by now. some discharge is normal, swelling should be gone. Continue to clean it in anti bacterial soap now more than ever because you are touching the jewelry that is entering your body.
