well you have to get to know the dog and see his personality and then when you get a good feeling and if the name fits then that is awsome. it took me a little while to name my hampster MAJOR diff.. but they are all the same in some way. it is mainly based on their personality and how well you can get along with them that is what i base mine on anway.

Anybody has a dog named MAX, I want to help. This is going to be your answer: take a skip, listen and a hop to the daytime soaps, or just study the synopsis on the net, then select say a French-sounding name, or such -- there I guarantee you will find a nice name. We picked a name for our standard poodle there, I think it was Days of Our Lives, and named our dog Deveraux., a well known actor. Worked. Buena suarte.

Had a Cocker Spaniel that I named Cedric, being an English breed of dog, I gave him an English name.

Here is a link to the AKC website on the history of the Pug. Might give you some ideas for a name.

How about seeing if your kids initials spell anything, or sound neat?

- Look through baby books for names.
- Pick a character from a favorite story.
- Pick something ethic, we names our dog Paddy b/c we are Irish
- Randomly open a dictionary or encyclopedia and pick a name off there

It just depends if your naming your dog for registration purposes or just as a "call name."
If you are on the lines of AKC or something of that nature for dog organizations, you may want to choose a name with meaning...allot of people choose first middle and last names as they would for any family member. Sir Winston is always a popular Pug, Sir ....of whatever st. you live on. OR

just a good ole fashion call name....Ziggy, Pugsly, Gus, Gio, Jed, Charlie, Barney etc... Good Luck!

Big Boy, Curly, butch (big masculine sounding names often throw people off when you yell out a name like Butch or KILLER COME HERE! and this little pug comes waddling out)
