I have a 97 dodge neon sohc 2.0 engine. There is antifreeze leaking out of the car and I am not sure where from. I have checked around the head, water pump, all hoses, and thermostat. There is no signs of water in any of these places. Where else could the water be comming from? I know that it is leaking around the middle of the motor on the back side. It is not comming from the overflow jug or the raitor. Thanks for your help.

Although Neons are known for leaking head gaskets, it is NOT coolant that leaks from the head gasket, it is ENGINE OIL at the BACK (back meaning transaxle side of engine) of the engine where the cam sensor is located. The only thing that I can think of, by what you describe, is a rotted through frost plug on the block, or heater hoses. Those are the only items in the area you describe with coolant going through. Hope this helps.

my best bet would be the headgasket or head neons with the 2.0 are known for head gaskets escpecially with over 70,000 miles if this is the problem best bet is to have the head checked for cracs and have it planed and replace the head gasket
