It all depends,

On what your job is
if your unit is getting ready to deploy
just got back from deployment
going thru an ORI
going thru any war games

When I was in, most duty sections rotated people or teams to work weekends.

In my case, we worked every third weekend, 12 hours on sat and sunday, and had the friday before and the monday afterwards off.

its really not that bad in basic training. it's 8 weeks of teaching you to discover you as a person. it's at lackland air force base in san antonio and once your done you go off to your schooling.
