Well, that depends on the severity of the cut. As a former EMT and a current dad to a 3-year-old, I have some experience with these things.

The facial area is extremely vascular. There are lots of blood vessels near the surface of the skin. This means that even the slightest cut will bleed like crazy. For the rest of the body, a cut will bleed, just not so much so.

If the cut is small, get some gauze, hold and compress the gauze to the cut for a few minutes. Wash it out, put some neosporin or some antibiotic cream on it. Apply a band-aid to it, if it's small. A 4x4 gauze pad will do, if it's larger.

If the cut is severe, something like an inch or more long and at least 1/4" deep, go to the hospital because stitches may be called for.

Remember, all bleeding will stop....eventually.

Are you hurting the child on purpose? You just asked about burns. Wash the cut off and put neosporin on it, and a band aid.

I hope you are just a nervous mom who is looking for advice for things you imagine might happen in the future.

There are lots of great books on safety-proofing and on first aid for children. Invest in one. It will help you do things right, and help you to relax.

On the other hand if you are looking for attention, get it some way that doesn't involve a child.
