It's not stupidity.
Sometimes you forget. Sometimes you think oh I'm just going across the street. Sometimes you think what's the chance, 1 in 1 million? It's like why do some people not wear hard hats at work? Why do some cops approach pulled over cars like they know nothing is wrong, but in the same car could be a murder with a concealed weapon.
It's the idea that when you think there is a impossible chance, then you become careless. Sometimes after not wearing your seatbelt so many times, you think I haven't been wearing a seatbelt for 30 years, and nothing has happened... what's one more time?
These are human nature. Not thinking twice is bad! Everyone does this, it may not just be limited to wearing your seat belt, but also locking the door when you're home alone (or in that case, not locking the door at all).
We all think we know the future. If we live in a very safe neighborhood, likely we don't lock the door all the time. Ok, it's safe, right? Well what about that one chance when someone maybe looking to ransake a house and has a gun? What if he doesn't want to go back to jail? All that could have been stopped by you locking your door.
People always think, what's the chance? But guess what! It only takes that one time for you to be dead!
So always think twice. Think the future, the past, and the present. Most importantly though, think of all that can happen in one second. It only takes a second to pull a trigger, and only one second to die. You can't rearrange the past, but can prevent the future! Just think twice.

I truly don't know. I feel uncomfortable almost if I try and drive anywhere without my seatbelt on. It just makes me feel kinda... naked, lol. I know a good friend which I graduated with last year, and he was in a car that was in an accident on a back road. He wasn't wearing his seatbelt. He was thrown from the car and cut his neck up on his way out of the front window. He died in my other friends arms that cold December night, only 2 days before Christmas.
This could've been avoided if he had been wearing his seatbelt that night. I feel that you have to be so incredibly stupid to not wear your seatbelt. What does it take to make some people wear theirs?! Does one of their friends have to die before reality slaps them in the face?? Wear a seatbelt!!!

Alexander ... Some people are just "thick headed," as they say.
Some people have speculated that the added security offered by seat belts and air bags has subconsciously encouraged many drivers to maneuver their vehicles more provocatively and also recklessly, in some cases. It's very hard to determine the reasons and effects for sure, though.

I often take a glance inside other vehicles on the road, everybody seems to be wearing them here. I can't recall any one day I ever saw somebody not wearing them.....

Some people just don't think of it or bother, perhaps find it annoying. After all, we know smoking kills people, and yet people take up that habit every day. People don't always make the smartest decisions I guess is the bottom line.

Too many people just don't care. They either forget or are just too
lazy to at least try to survive the accident they might have.

I wonder the same about the idiots going through their mid life crisies going helmetless on their motor bikes. How independant and free are they gonna feel when their few brain cells are splattered on the cement getting driven over by semi's.

who cares! If some people don't like to wear it then don't wear it. I don't have a problem with that. If they want to fly out their front windshield then let them.
