it is not good, but i don't think you have the right to say anything, i'm sure she knows the dangers and i'm sure other people have said things but it's a sure way to make an enemy, we all have things we do that we wish we did not but i bet she feels enough guilt without strangers butting in

It's really none of your business. I've read that the amount of nicotine that a baby would get exposed to while breastfeeding if the mother smokes is virtually nothing. But it depends on where you get your information. Either way, you can't tell her what she should or shouldn't do with her child.

everyone knows you SHOULDN'T smoke during breastfeeding. every doctors office has signs and every hospital releases you with a nurse gving you this same lecture. until they make it illegal for you to smoke during pregnancy and breastfeeding there is really nothing you can do or say without risking the fact she may just tell you to " f off". and it is possible she stopped breastfeeding now the baby is old enough to take on regular milk. cuz i can't promise you that i won't crave a drag now and then after my son is a year old.

I had a friend who's friend (if you can follow that) I knew smoked and she was breastfeeding. I gave her my two cents and told her that children can become addicted to nicotine even through breastfeeding and she just blew me off. Unfortunatly its not illegal so you can't call the cops on her, however I think you should say something. You could be that one person who God decides to work through and make her hear what she needs to hear.

YES! In this day and age, very few people are aware of the dangers of smoking. The most successful quit-smoking programs involve not patches or pills, but nags from co-workers.
She'll be naught but grateful, I promise!

it is commonly accepted in the medical community that the benefits of breastfeeding out weigh the risks of nicotine exposure to the infant.
but in when you see her smoking while nursing... she might drop a hot on the baby...

Yes, you need to mind your own business.
It is bad for her to be doing, but unless you plan on raising her child for her, it is not your concern. She already knows that this COULD be bad for the child.
**my aunt breastfed all her biological kids while smoking, and their health is just fine now that they are 24, 29, 32.

Some parents just don't get it. I think you should say something, she might not know smoking can effect breast milk.

I personally don't really know if it is bad or not, but I do know it's none of your business.
