Well he is definately ready for potty training. You need to give him time out when he takes his diaper or pull up off. When he poops in the corner, go pick up the poop with a scooper and take him with you and dump it in the potty. Then tell him that poop always goes in the potty and sit him down on it. If he screams just make him sit there for a minute you can turn a timer on. When he has sit there a minute whether he ever stopped crying or not, give him a treat for sitting there. Then let him up. Now most children poop after they have had a meal so just keep an eye out for that and go sit him on the potty. When you see him go off to a corner follow him quietly and if he is sitting there about to poop go and put him on the potty. This may stop the bowl movement the first couple of times but he will be ok. Reward him for sitting on the potty. After you got him sitting on the potty without crying, waite till he pees in it, then reward him. Do not let him stand up at the potty until he is pooping in the potty.
I hope this works. It worked with just about every child I toilet trained in daycare, but my son is not toilet trained yet. He is also Autistic though. Keep up the good work.

A 22-month old is too young for toilet training.
Naked time is a great way to start, though, and you can put his potty seat in the corner where he goes to toilet. The goal is not so much for him to use the potty seat in the bathroom (that will come on it's own, I promise you!), but to use the seat. If putting it in the corner he likes to use works, then do so. Soon enough on his own he'll decide when he's ready to move to the bathroom.
Potting is a personal thing, and you cannot force him to use the potty. If he absolutely will not keep a diaper on, but will not use the potty, use electrical tape (NOT duct tape!) and tape the diaper on. Or put it on backwards.
He will potty train before Kindergarten, but 3 1/2-4 is about average for that.

We have a little boy that will be 3 in March-he is an only child. He will pee in the pot pretty good, but I have only gotten him to poop in it once; so dont freak out and think he is behind schedule. Kaden (son) will tell either me or his dad he has to pee throughout the day, and we have him go before bedtime and naps even if he does not ask to. He wakes up occasionally from nap and in the morning wet, but he is doing much better. My major advice is this: we bought Kaden one of those potties that has bright colors, sings a "potty song" , has a fake flusher, etc. I think it is a Fisher Price brand, but not sure. Anyway, he thought it was more of a toy and would not pee in it, he wanted to use the "big people potty". So we bought him one of those foam seats for kids that sets on the toilet seat, and he started peeing in the toilet that day. But all kids are different, so yours might like a kid potty. That is all the advice I have; it is rough. Good Luck and just try to not stress it!

His age does seem a little young still. My daughter started around that age with her son and he knew what the potty was and what it was for but he was just to young to realize it was what he was suppose to do also not just mom and dad. She waited until he was more then 2 1/2 and he trained in a weeks time. I would just try and keep potty pants or pull ups on him or even overalls that he can't undo and wait a little longer. Of course if he asked to use it i would let him but I wouldn't expect too much just yet.

Your little boy may not be ready to potty train. I am a mom of two boys - 3 and 5 years old. Boys bladders normally develop later than girls in addition to their emotional skills. Instead of driving yourself and your son crazy, it might be best to give it a rest for a couple months and try again. Good luck and below is a helpful resource.

Isn't a 22 month old a little young for potty training. You can try, but I think you should give it more time. Boys will be boys. :-)

i dont know about the pooping part. but with the peeing in his potty you can put some water in it and put some cherrios in it and tell him to try and pee on them. and if he does give him a reward. you could put up a poster thing a everytime he goes potty you can put up a sticker. just a thought. hopes this helps.
