You could use bold colors such as hot pink, lime green, turquoise, etc. to go with a bright white. Small stripes of these colors can make great accents without being overpowering. If you want something softer, try a more salmon shade of pink and mix it with a dusty blue, creamy yellow or sage green; but you'll need larger displays to keep everything from looking washed out. Not knowing your location, I'd keep it indoors in August. Community centers can have very attractive rooms. A small theatre or opera house works well also, if you don't have a church. Just make sure your level of formality matches. Don't try to do an ultra-formal wedding in a steak house; or a jeans and boots wedding in a palace. The most important part is to stay within your budget (or you'll regret it later) and HAVE FUN!

For my August wedding I went with royal blue, silver and white. My sister also got married in August and had a floral theme, so she didn't have any specific colors. The bridesmaids wore the same top and had periwinkle, sage and soft pink skirts which were purchased as seperates from David's Bridal.

Fall weddings are GREAT!! The weather is beautiful and the range of colors is so great that you could almost choose anything ... my advice would be to stay away from doing a "fall themed" wedding. The color combo is way overdone and you deserve better than that!!

A great thing to do is to invest in a color wheel ... I know, I know, it sounds like a high school art project gone bad, right?? Well it is way more fun that that!! Take it with you EVERYWHERE and compare it to colors you find in stores ... that way you can narrow down your options and figure out which colors go best together.

Pink would be fine. I know you will hear this alot but it's your wedding and if you like pink, choose it. I personally like coral and aqua, my wedding is going to be brown and peach and it's in April. Are you very colorful or more neutral? You could have light pink and fuschia, that would look cool. Have fun with the colors, put a few together, like go to David's Bridal and look at what they have and see what you like together. Congrats and have a great day!

get a picture of all the brides and grooms men and put different colors up to them. see what colors look good on all of them. then go with some of those. i want lilac purple and white for my wedding. i LOVE lilac purple!!! that's more of a spring color. since you're getting married in the summer go with a bright bold color. or who cares about the season....just pick colors you and your fiance like and can agree on. you can have a "hawaiian" themed wedding full of bright colors and get married on the beach. the reception can be cheap by getting decorations from the "Oriental Trader" magazine. you can order it on line and get it in the mail for free. they have other party ideas in there too so maybe just get a magazine and see if anything appeals to you. or get a prom decoration magazine and see if anything appeals there. you don't have to actually buy those decorations though...they're expensive. but the prom decoration magazines usually have a variety of color combinations that can give you a lot of great ideas. good luck finding ideas!!! and good luck in love and marriage.

If you love pink, I would go for a more bolder colored pink like magenta or fushia, august is still pretty summery, you can go with bright colors and not have to go as "fally"

pink, yellow, orange and lime green together in bouquets looks great, as well as pink, purple and lime green. You could have any of those colors as your bridesmaids dresses...and centerpiece idea for the pink purple and green, get pretty clear plates and pile up the green apples or kiwis and purple grapes and stick pink flowers in the cracks here and there, very inexpensive and different! that color scheme was my back-up until I found polka dot bridesmaid dresses I just had to have and decided 2 many colors would be distracting with that sort of a pattern! thus-I went all hot pink, black and white!

I got married last August. I love pink, too.. but knowing that pink can out of control quickly, I decided to do brown (light brown, like mocha) with bits of pink. For example, my bridesmaids wore light brown and carried a tasteful shade of pink calla lillies. I loved how my colors worked out, and the pictures look great, too.

I like these colors, Bright pink, Yellow and Orange. And for the centerpieces you could do a tall vase with a single "pink" flower then have a goldfish swimming in the water. And on the vase tye a yellow ribbon around it. You wouldn't want those colors as primary colors though. I would do them as accent to maybe black and white, then just have the colors be in the flowers or in accesories.

I think a great theme for a summer wedding would be seaside or beach. Even if you don't get married on the beach, you can still use a sea shell color pallette: (ivory or pale yellow, peaches, earth tones). Checkout this site for ideas on centerpieces, etc. (You can use sea shells, sand, candles, ) The honey dew color would look great on brides maids. Check it out on the davids bridal website.

and go to davids bridal's website to check out the color ideas for brides maid dresses

OR
I was in a wedding in August 2003 and the bride choose champagne color on the site above. Where it says "browse by color"...it's the 11th square in the second row. anyway she had peach/light orange tones and pale yellow colored flowers and roses in her centerpieces and bouquets. It turned out GREAT! and the colors were perfect for an August wedding.

I attended a beautiful wedding last summer and the wedding colors were lime green and white. It was classic and elegant! The tables were covered with white tablecloths and a lime green tablecloth diagonally over that. The theme was rather tropical and it was absolutely exquisite. I loved the tropical flowers, and people thought the wedding party looked beautiful. The men had dark gray tux's with lime green vests, and the women were wearing dresses that were lime green on top and white on the bottom. The girls had on lime green open toed shoes. It made for a beautiful wedding on a hot August night! Congrats to you both!
