Buddhism come from India and it flourished under Gupta dynasty in India, but why todays there's seem no buddhists in India? only some followers remains in Tibet and Srilanka.
If it was because of conflicts with the hindu and muslim I never heard such religious war that involve buddhists?

There are some people in yahoo, who make wrong and deliberate statements about india.
I ask them to go and read about india and hinduism before doing that, it really matter for indians if someone says "caste system drove away buddists, or hindus forced buddists out"
Buddism disappeard from india because, bhakthi movement ( devotion movement) started in india at the same time and hinduism spread faster than buddism.
No religion was ever forced out of india by hindus.

actual Buddhism is a custom that's in line with inner commentary. In that factor , there is in basic terms one Buddhism. there are a number of variations as you mentioned through fact Buddhism turns into exterior ( Buddha statues, Reciting mantras, making vows, vegetarianism etc. etc.). Buddhists do make their practice generally happening to others interior the expectancy that there may be persons who will have an interest. no longer interior the experience that persons will bypass to hell in the event that they do no longer persist with Buddhism.

It wasn't the conflicts with the muslims. India is not a muslim nation, therefore it couldn't have been greatly affected except for the 1948 thing. Have you ever heard of Asoka? There is also a movie about it starring Shah Rukh Khan (favorite actor) and Kareena Kapoor. You might want to try that. ;)

It might have been due to the fact that the Hindu religion was so well entrenched in India that its popularity gradually caused people to convert back to Hinduism from Buddhism.

I'm going to guess it was mostly because of the Christians and Muslims who came to India and either passively or actively spread their religion. There was probably greater strength in numbers near Tibet and in Sri Lanka.

India and the system they have "cast" meaning they have socio-economic groups and the Buddha did not live along his family line as a Brahma. He started a revolution that was controversial and secret.

1) The ancient Indian government, probably 1000 yrs ago ( I don't remember exactly) baned Buddism and killed most monks.
2) Buddism itself is a philosophy hard for ordinary people to understand. I have a college degree and I feel hard to understand it, although I can understand its basics. Back to ancient India, most people were illiterate, so they could not understand it. Buddism is more a pholosophy than a religion.
