I have a six month old Goldendoodle. Her parents were a Golden Retriever and a Standard Poodle, and the hybrid weight is generally around 60 lbs. Right now she weighs 30 lbs, although she is not underweight. She has had diarrhea most of the time due to worms, however. My Labrador, at the same age, was almost at his full size. I've heard that developmentally the breeds are similar; is my Goldendoodle stunted?

If she has worms that will keep her from filling out. Once she gets over the worms, I would be shocked if she doesn't fill out.

We judge whether or not my cat has worms by his weight.

Worms can cause the 'stunting' you're seeing. They're parasites, they take her nutrition and her feul to grow.

If she's not on a regularly scheduled wormer and antibotics for her worms, you need to take her to the vet so she is prescribed them. Growing is hard enough without some forgein thing taking away from you.

Quick Edit: The diarrhea proably isn't the worms. It's not uncommon for dogs with worms to also have coxidia (not spelled right, sorry). They're a bacteria or some such in the instestine walls, that burst and cause diarrhea. Get her tested for that as well.

mixed dogs can vary in size. but at 6 months your dog has not finished growing yet. and will not stop growing until it is 1 year old. maybe a little longer. You do need to take her to the vet to be dewormed if you have not done so. the over the counter stuff doesn't work on all worms. I would guess your dog would weight about 60 lbs easy. at full grown.

Man, I'd sure look at something wrong with her, it simply is not normal for a dog to have diarrhea due to worms continuously! I had a female golden retriever, she was fully grown at 65 pounds but it took her three years to get there.

There may be a real issue with her not retaining enough nutrients to grow properly if she battles diarrhea constantly. Besides the obvious downsides to having the runs constantly, it is incredibly hard on the body!

If your vet seems unconcerned, get a second diagnosis!

allow 18 mos to become full size. my standard poodle is 5 yrs old and weighs 65 lbs. and he is a big boy. poodles have a different bone and muscle stucture than a lab. their leaniner and more streamlined. more height than a lab. your dog has most likely more poodle traits than a lab. get rid of those worms!!!
don't think he's stunted.
although i really don't like the breeders of the golden doodles and labradoodles, they are very sweet dogs. just keep in mind that their coats need lots of grooming. at 6 months, i hope you have had it to a groomer already. don't wait until you have a big mess on your hands and then expect a groomer to fix it without shaving it.

Worms can stunt a puppies growth also can cocixidia.
What you feed your puppy plays a huge role on growth and development.
Also remember you have two different breeds of dogs and they will not mature at the same rate.
Plus males grow at different rates than females and all almost always bigger at any stage of growth.
I would take her to the vet and get a fecal done and that will tell what type worms she has if any.
