im afraid it will splash in my eye and blind me or cause damage, and im afraid i won't spit it all out, and i am afraid of an allergic reaction.. i only brush my teeth about once every 2-3 weeks because its so exhausting to spend 30 minutes rensing and then rinsing my eyes after and washing it off my hands for 10 more minutes. My gums hurt and i was told a year ago im going to have gengivitus.

WOW! This is strange. Yes, I hate it too. My mom used to always say- "Make sure you remember to brush your teeth!" And never did! Until then my mom had told me it's time to go to the Dentist. It was like nightmares! "Oh no!! I know that I'm gonna have a HORRIBLE cavity!! But that day I brushed my teeth as much as I could and guess what- No cavity's!! Well, you may have a problem. Don't be afraid of it splashing in your face! Here are some tips:
1. Turn the water to the lowest setting.
2. Take your toothbrush and put just a dab of toothpaste on there.
3. Put the toothbrush to your teeth and brush back and forth- about 2 minutes.
4. Spit out between about every 30 seconds.
5. Use a small cup (Dixie Cups as preferred), fill with water, and rinse out your mouth.
6. If you are afraid to brush your teeth, you must be afraid to eat!

I hope you are alright and I hope my advice works! Good Luck!

It's important to brush your teeth at least twice a day, morning and night. What are you afraid of, that you might have an allergic reaction to the toothpaste? Go to your doctor and get tested for allergies to the common toothpaste components, and find a brand that you can tolerate.
Toothpaste in your eyes won't damage your eyes, it only stings a bit. Swallowing a little bit during rinsing doesn't hurt you either. I think you're being far too paranoid about it. If you don't take care of your teeth now you'll have to deal with a lot of expensive repair work down the road.

You have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). You need to see a psychologist and get on some medication. You will not only get gingivitis, but you could get some serious gum or teeth infections that could serious complications with your heart if let go long enough. If you are worried about getting toothpaste in your eyes, why not wear eye protection? Also, if you are worried about an allergic reaction, why not try some baking soda instead of toothpaste. That will polish your teeth and its all natural and will not cause an allergic reaction. OCD is a terrible disorder and unless you have experienced it, no one can understand it. Good luck.

The first things about your hands and eyes is completely irrational. You can either realize that toothpaste (unless you actually eat an entire tube) is harmless. If you can't get over that, ask for professional help.
Your gums will stop hurting after you brush once daily for about a week, they're not strong enough to handle the brushes. Start with a soft-bristle toothbrush.
Lastly, you WILL get gingivitis. If you don't brush your teeth, they will turn black and rot out. You will lose your teeth, and that's a lot less pleasant than brushing once daily.

You have obsessive compulsive disorder. It is very common. An antidepressant should ease your symptoms in about 2 weeks after starting them. I agree with the answer about just using water to brush your teeth. That will help some. Then use mouthwash. Or, take a soft cloth and rub baking soda on your teeth. That is not poison and will not blind you. It would be nice if you could convince yourself that toothpaste could not be poison or it wouldn't be sold since children and maybe mentally challenged people might swallow it. Also, wearing glasses or closing your eyes will keep it out of them.

You really need to start brushing 2x a day. Dental care is very expensive these days if you don't look after them now you will end up loosing them. Now as for swallowing tootpaste trust me it won't kill you, you can even eat it nothing will hapen, and as for it splashing in your eye nothing will happen just wash it out with water. Try brushing it carefully I don't know how you get splashed I've nevr once in my life had tootpase in my eye and I'm never careful. You mentioned allergic reaction if you had an allergie it would have shown some kind of a reaction by now. since nothing has happend t o you I don't think you have an allergie to toothpast. start brushing and say to yourself nothing will happen to me I'm fine and slowly your fear will fade.

If you are scared of not spitting all the toothpaste out, start using just water, its better than nothing, then maybe eventually you will get used to it and use toothpaste. You could just close your eyes while brushing, and plus, for motivation, think of what could happen if you dont start brushing more often! A freind of mine has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, you may have that, so it might be a good idea to see someone about it.

Have a good idea....

Take toothpaste into the mouth without the toothbrush and don't swallow it.

Mix it around and hold it for more than 10 mins or sooner. Take the toothbrush and brush each set for no more than a minute on both side.

Finally, look in the mirror and see your beautiful white smile!

Id be more worried of getting bacterial infections if you dont brush. It wont splash in your eye & if it did,,it wont hurt you.Just close your eyes then. You sound like you have a phobia or obsession. You wont be allergic to toothpaste. And it doesnt take 30 minutes to rince or wash your hands.I think you have a compulsive disorder.Ask your doctor about that.

if u are afraid of swallowing toothpaste and getting sick just rinse with water afterwards it doesnt stop the flouride from working, if u havent gotten it in ur eye yet... i doubt u will, but if u have and ur using an electric toothbrush... switch too a manual its personal heygine not brushing your teeth can also cost u tons of money from having to get filings, gingevitis treatment (having to dig lots of plaque our from under your gums (painful)), ect.
