I have a 7yr. old that seems to stay in trouble. At this point, he's suspended from the YMCA program b/c of his behavior. I'm from the old school and don't mind putting a switch/belt to his behind; however, in this situation, I didn't. B/c I was so upset and disappointed at him. He's my only son and I do lavish him with things (especially when he does the right thing/make good grades). Right now, I'm just shaking my head and like "LORD, have mercy". Ever felt like crying but couldn't b/c you were all cried out? Well this is one of those times. Any advice, that is appropriate, please send.

well i dont have any children but i do have a 7 yr old brother that is the same way. what i do with him i always sit down with him read, do fun projects concerning learning so that he gets entertained in that. therefore he will see that he can do all this in school and pay more attention. i always tell him that the better he does he will be able to get more good stuff if he brings in all the good reports. i have even went out and gave him $1 for every 100 he brings back and man does he bring them home now. my mom does the same. he actually likes it now to the point that if he does wrong he knows that the corner is where he will be visiting for punishment.

Right now would be a perfect time for you to take some parenting classes. I took them years ago, learned a lot, changed for the better, my kids and I benefited, and my insurance paid for it. Look under social services or the child welfare department in the phone book. You'll find someone who will be able to steer you in the right direction.
