It really is quite simple. You do not need to be a theologian or a philosopher to understand it. You simply need the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. When you have that, there is no need of anything else. The Holy Spirit knows truth, and therefore will not bear witness to something that is not truth, be it a false interpretation, or false doctrine. The scriptures are not meant for people that do not have the spirit of God in them. God gives understanding. One cannot begin to understand spiritual things if you are not walking in the spirit. A carnal mind will never understand spiritual meanings.

The bible is Gods living word. It was written to speak directly to you and me. It wasnt written to be interpreted by one man and then spoon fed to you and I.
The problem comes when we start to believe that someone else has the "power" to tell us what it says, and we stop or never start reading it for ourselves.
For if we have read Gods word, we will be able to readily determine if we are listening to a false teacher of that very word.
Gods word is actually very simple to understand. We as humans love to complicate matters and often subject Gods word to our own thoughts and desires of what we want it to be, rather than what it is.
Yes, you will also eventually study cultures and beliefs that accompany the times in which the bible is written. Different books of the bible were written at very different times in history. So you will find that there were very different cultural beliefs and traditions during different times of the writings.
I urge you to read Gods word for yourself, with very little outside influence (maybe a bit of help with finding other spots in the bible that the very same thing is being written about by another author). You will find that God's truth will win out, and God will give you the understanding that you need at the time you need it.
You may go back to the same book and chapter later on, but different things will be going on in your life, and the writing will give you understanding of your circumstances at this time, that it wouldnt have the last time that you read it. That is why it is called the living word, it will speak to you as you read it, each and every time that you do.

Religion can be simple enough for child-like belief, or complicated enough for years of theological study. Children can often explain religion better than many others, and Jesus notes this in the Bible when He says 'Let the children come to Me." However, He also revealed some of the more complicated parts of theology which are elaborated upon in the New Testament letters and in the works of later saints.
God Bless!

There is nothing more satisfying than to know God in a personal way. This is not about a religion. It's about a relationship with God.
God loves you and gave His Son to die on the cross for you. He gave His life as a divine sacrifice that you might be forgiven of sin and have eternal life. Jesus said, "I am come that they might have [eternal] life" (John 10:10b). This is God's free gift to every one of us. The Bible teaches that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23) and deserve the penalty of sin, which is separation from God. When we realize that our sins separate us from Him, it is our privilege and responsibility to turn from sin unto Christ in true repentance, with faith in Him as Savior and Lord. In taking this step we become a part of God's family; see John 1:12.
To receive Christ as Savior is a transforming experience. Not only do we gain a new dimension of joy, peace and purity, but we find all things become new; see 2 Corinthians 5:17.
God loves everyone, including the sinner. If only perfect people could get into Heaven, then none of us would ever go there—because none of us are perfect!

Religions will always be complex; most of them originated in the minds of arrogant men and became the means by which these men could gain immortality. There is a vast difference between religion and spirituality. Whereas religion promotes rituals and sacraments, catechisms and complex ideologies, spirituality is simply a personal relationship with God through prayer. When we seek God in prayer, He reveals Himself to us and we learn what it is that pleases and displeases Him. It's really just that simple.

the Bible was written for those who have a relationship with God to be able to understand. God is complex, but He can be understood to the capacity that human faith allows us. God is contradictory to what seems like a wise thing sometimes, but as God is omniscient, He's got a better plan than we can formulate.
oh, and people are generally the ones who are simple.

Man has controlled religion for selfish reasons.
There are religions that are purely philosophical.
Hinduism like many other religions contains sound common sense advice in lots of areas, as does Buddhism.
Not to mention Taoism. Confucius for all intent and purposes is all about the most philosophical approach to interaction between humans in society.

Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote "So long as an unlettered soul can attain to saving grace, there would seem to be no deadly error in holding theological libraries to be accumulations of, for the most part, stupendous impertinence"
I think he was right lol.

Man made dogmas are complicated. It is of the ego.
God's truth is simple. That is why Christ said to be like children and to empty our cups to receive the new wine of God.
You are indeed correct. Religions were not intended to be complicated and indeed something is wrong with them. The man made dogmas are what is wrong with them.
Read the new revelation and make up your own mind.
